ABBA FATHER - 19/06/11
ABBA FATHER
He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me. Yet not what I will, but what You will.” Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn’t you stay awake for one hour? Mar14:36.
We could see in many places that Jesus called unto His Father and whenever He called His Father it is explicitly seen that something special has happened. We too have the right to call Him “Abba Father” as the descendants of Abraham.
I have seen some families who show outwardly that they are in good relationship but when we look unto the things the way they behave and speak that says about their true relationship. The sons will not directly talk to the father and the mom will be the mediator all the time and also most of the time they need their father for their needs to be met. That should not be the case. We should always show our love to our Father directly and praise Him in return of His love and care for us. The Father’s- son relationship should be strong.
And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, who calls “Abba, Father!” Gal4:6
As the Spirit of His Son (Jesus) dwells in us we can call the Father the same way as Jesus His Son called Him and we will receive the blessings. God has given this authority to us. See Rom8:15, “When you pray, say: Father, may Your name be honored; may Your kingdom come. Lk11:2-4. So call Him and You will see a great things happening in your life. Today we are going to observe in what all situations and How Jesus called His Father and the outcome of it.
1. PASSION:
I tell you, from now on I will not drink of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom. Mat26:29
Here Jesus says, “My Father” Here we can see a meaningful and intimate relationship between Him and the Father God. He has the confidence of approaching Him as He was without any blemish. Jesus says in Mat27:46 “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Many of us think that He said this out of fear but the truth is the unblemished Jesus, the one who did not know sin was made to be sin for us, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God. He could not tolerate the separation between Him and His Father at that time. Here there is no reason for Him to be scared of, because He came into this world for this alone i.e to do His Father’s will.
If you carefully listen to these words you can very well be aware of the intimacy between the Father and the Son. That cry of Jesus was the intolerable pain due to the short time separation of the Son and Father and the great expression of love. The words of a child may vary when they are talking in a very close manner and only the Father can understand the exact meaning of the child’s expression of love. “Gethsamane” is a place where the Father and the Son demonstrates their love to each other. Father God expects love.
There lived a father and a daughter. Father was always busy with his works and the daughter longed to spend time with her father. She told her desire to her father. And one night the father came home with all his files from the office. The next day he told his daughter, I am going to work at home today, so you can sit in my room but you should not disturb me as I have to finish this before tomorrow and she said. “Yes, thank you daddy”. She sat silently behind him and was watching her dad for a long time
Her father did some of his work in the beginning but after sometime he couldn’t concentrate on his work as he was taken away by his daughter’s love. He just turned to his daughter and took hold of her.
If you ask some people “Do they really love their kids and wives?” they used to reply, “You do not know how much I love them, my heart is filled with love for them”. But they never show that to them. How do they know unless you shower it to them in some way or the other? Speak it out and express it by giving them some gifts.
We worship God because we love Him. We gather in the church as a family to proclaim that we love our God with all our heart, mind and soul. We are here to say, “God I love You”. We praise Him and give offerings as a token of love and thanksgiving. When you demonstrate all your love to God, His will be done on you.
Prayer: Father, Here am I standing as Your child and look unto you. I love You so much than anything else in this world. Let Your will be done on me Father.
2. TEARS:
Jesus wept. So they took away the stone. Jesus looked upward and said, “Father, I thank you that you have listened to Me. Jn11:35, 41
This is an incident in the death of the Lazarus. When the two sisters wept, Jesus also wept. The only one who understands the exact state is Jesus alone, the only one who truly cares and sob for us. When we are upset we tend to sit in a corner and weep, not even think of calling Him. That will even worsen your condition. Jesus called His Father in tears, follow Him and you will be relieved.
Prayer: Father, I was in serious trouble and You delivered me. Thank You Father, for the rest to my soul and made me free from the blame. Yes Lord, You rescued my life from death, and kept my feet from stumbling. I will serve the Lord in the land of the living.
3. FORGIVENESS:
[But Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”] Then they threw dice to divide His clothes. Lk23:34
Throughout the night Jesus was with His Father. We can see many special things happened whenever He had a direct encounter with God. He called His Father to forgive those who crucified Him. If at all you are cheated in any way you should not delay to forgive others. Christian life is forgiveness. If there is someone in your life that you cannot forgive, today is the day to forgive them. And if you cannot do that you cannot be called as a Christian. Every time you cannot forgive someone make sure you cannot be forgiven by God. If anyone says “I love God” and yet hates his fellow Christian, he is a liar, because the one who does not love his fellow Christian whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. 1Jn4:20.
Jesus forgave and He got the authority to call Him “Abba Father”. We all might have known about the Orissa incident. That lady is the best example for forgiveness. The people in that place killed her husband and her children. But when she was inquired about that she told, “I forgive them with all my heart, leave them”. She proves that the Spirit of Jesus dwells in her.
4. TROUBLE:
“Now my soul is greatly distressed. And what should I say? ‘Father, deliver me from this hour’? No, but for this very reason I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.” Jn12:27,28
When the worldly people face some serious problems they try to end up their lives but a true Christian look unto Jesus. See Jesus says Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.” If you are in the same situation, continue to pray, do not give up and you will definitely see the great glory of God, the blessings from above. ‘Call on me in prayer and I will answer you. I will show you great and mysterious things which you still do not know about.’ Jer33:3.
5. TRIUMPH
Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And after he said this he breathed his last. Lk23:46
In most of the places this passage is read in a very sad manner but that’s not the way He told this. That was the victorious moment for Him, that was the only purpose He came into this world and now He accomplished it and successfully completed the task which was committed to Him by His Father. Having Jesus accomplished the will of God He triumphantly called His Father, “Abba”.
God is going to bring in your life that sort of triumph and you will say with a contentment of success that you have done the will of God. Say with me now, “Abba Father, I am going to be victorious in my life, no more failures”. Continue confessing this always and you will succeed. And God is able to make all grace overflow to you so that because you have enough of everything in every way at all times, you will overflow in every good work. 2Cor9:8. Hold on to this secret and keep on calling Him “Abba Father”. You will definitely see wonders and we believe you will get back to us with your testimonies to us by using this secret in your prayer.
Prayer: Abba Father, You are powerfully working within us and You are able to do far beyond all that we ask or think. To You be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
