QUALITIES OF THE MOTHER 08/05/11
CHARM OF THE MOTHER
Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also praises her: “Many daughters have done valiantly, but you surpass them all!” Pro31:28, 29.
We should praise the Lord for our mother whom God has given for us in this world. And also it is important to praise and thank your mother for taking care of you, sometimes their grand children and protects them and always tends to do something good for her children.
As a mother consoles a child, so I will console you, and you will be consoled over Jerusalem.” Isa 66:13. Even God compares His consolation with the consolation of a mother as she is always a well wisher of her children and she cannot tolerate her children suffering from anything, same like our Jesus.
1. MOTHER WHO DOES ANYTHING FOR HER CHILDREN: Gen 27:13.
So his mother told him, “Any curse against you will fall on me, my son! Just obey me! Go and get them for me!” Gen27:13.
In this world there are mothers who are hardhearted, cruel, uncaring and inhuman. Some heartless mothers are ready to do any harm to their children, giving them as a sacrifice to their idols, throw them in bins, river and in orphanage. But we are not going to talk about the thick-skinned mothers but about the devoted and affectionate mother.
A mother’s heart and bowel should pulsate for her children. Our God is a God who is all set to do anything for the blessings of His children. Though there is any hope, God says, ” I will make streams flow down the slopes and produce springs in the middle of the valleys. I will turn the desert into a pool of water and the arid land into springs.” Isa41:18. Nothing is impossible with God.
As a mother of Isaac, Rebekkah’s heart yearns to get the blessings for her loving son Isaac. We see in Genesis 27: 7 onwards she plans everything to grab the blessings of the father for the son Isaac. Rebekkah’s advice: Now then, my son, do exactly what I tell you! Go to the flock and get me two of the best young goats. I’ll prepare them in a tasty way for your father, just the way he loves them. Then you will take it to your father. Thus he will eat it and bless you before he dies.”
And when Isaac asked, “what if I’ll bring a curse on myself instead of a blessing.” His mother told him, “Any curse against you will fall on me, my son! Just obey me! Go and get them for me!” See here she believes the blessing of her son is the blessing of hers.
Prayer: Lord, I thank you for my mother but You are more than my mother in everything. I know You are always ready to do anything for me and you have made everything ready for me and want me to possess it. Only give me such belief that I can inherit it. Amen.
2. MOTHER WHO KNOWS THE NEEDS OF HER CHILDREN: I Sam2:19
His mother (Hannah) used to make him (Samuel) a small robe and bring it up to him at regular intervals when she would go up with her husband to make the annual sacrifice. ISam2:19.
A mother alone knows the meaning of the baby’s cry. She rightly identify the reasons fbehind the cry of the baby whether it is because of hunger or stomach pain or cranky or sleepy and she met the needs of that immediately. We should know we receive many things from God even before we ask as He is the bestest mother who fulfill our needs before even we cry. And when we cry for it even if it is not needed He will provide it but always learn to pray, "Lord, if it is Your will let it be done for me" because He alone knows what is best for us.
The high class people give quality gifts when they attend some functions at least to maintain their dignity. But our God is the King of Kings and He will supply our every need according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Prayer: Lord, I will delight in You and I believe You will give me my desires of mine heart as You have promised in Psa 37:4. Thank you Lord. Amen.
3. MOTHER WHO DESIRES HER CHILD’S ELEVATION: Mat20:20
Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Him with her sons, and kneeling down she asked Him for a favor. Mat20:20.
“Permit these two sons of mine to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom.” Look at her, what a mother? Though it seems to be greedy for others, she did not ask that blessing for her but for her children. And our God is so generous and openhanded that the blessing from the Lord makes a person rich, and He adds no sorrow to it. May God increase your blessings thousand times more than your present eminence as He has promised your fore father Abraham. It may be anything your studies, job, income, fame etc;
4. MOTHER OF REVELATION: Lk1:60
But his mother replied, “No! He must be named John.” Lk1:60
The angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son; you will name him John. Zechariah said to the angel, “How can I be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is old as well.” The angel answered him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news. And now, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time, you will be silent, unable to speak, until the day these things take place.” Lk1:13,18-20.
Elizabeth did not know anything about the conversation between Zechariah and angel but she wanted to name her son John only by revelation. On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they wanted to name him Zechariah after his father. But his mother replied, “No! He must be named John.” They said to her, “But none of your relatives bears this name.” So they made signs to the baby’s father, inquiring what he wanted to name his son. He asked for a writing tablet and wrote, “His name is John.” And they were all amazed. Immediately Zechariah’s mouth was opened and his tongue released, and he spoke, blessing God.
5. MOTHER WHO KEPT ALL THINGS IN THE HEART: Lk2:51
Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them. But his mother kept all these things in her heart. Lk2:51.
She kept everything in her heart and prayed about it. We have to be very careful about the person whom we share our personal and family problems. There are so many chances of getting offended. May be you can get support from your spiritual father or mother. They are there but they can only suggestions and pray about it. But you are the one who could pray for your problem earnestly and there our God is always available for you to advice you and give you the strength to deal with it and also solve your problems magically.
6. MOTHER WHO RECEIVED MIRACLE: Jn2:5
His mother told the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.” Jn2:5
Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washing, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus told the servants “Fill the water jars with water.” So they filled them up to the very top. Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the head steward,” and they did. When the head steward tasted the water that had been turned to wine, not knowing where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), he called the bridegroom and said to him, Everyone serves the good wine first, and then the cheaper wine when the guests are drunk. You have kept the good wine until now!”
Here we see Jesus as a God of miracle and the mother who received it by telling the servants to do whatever He says that is just to obey His words. Let us follow the mother’s statement and do obey the word of Jesus and receive miracles.
