TENT

 TENT

(Message by Pr. S. Visuvasam on 17th Oct 2010)

How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel!

-          Numbers 24:5

The Lord says these words looking at Jacob and Israel. No matter how small a dwelling place or house we have, the Lord is delighted in it and it is beautiful in his eyes.  His eyes are always watchful of our dwelling place.

The Lord looks at our house as a Tent no matter how big or grand it is.

And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished,

he departed to his own house.

-          Luke 1:23

Here, Zechariah went to his own house.  Our own house is not here on earth, it is just a waiting place.  But our own house is in heaven.

God expects certain experiences and qualities in our house or dwelling place.  When it is all there he blesses us.

1. TENT OF PROMISE

And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;

And he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door…

Sarah thy wife shall have a son,

-          Genesis 18:1,2,10

This is the tent of Abraham.  He received the visitation of God - through his ambassadors.

Abraham pressed them and asked them to come to his house.  He begged them to come.  The purpose for which they came was different but there arose an argument which resulted in them blessing Abraham.

People have rooms for every purpose or reason in their house but fail to have prayer room.  When we have a separate room for prayer, our house will be blessed as it turns out to be the dwelling place of our God.

God gives us his promise over there and fulfills them.  Through that it will be revealed to many and we will be a channel of blessing.

2. TENT OF COMFORT

And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and

she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was

comforted after his mother’s death.

-          Genesis 24:67

This tent seems to be a place where it had experienced a loss.  Isaac had lost his mother and was filled with sorrow but when Rebekah came there it became a house of comfort.

Our house should be a place where people come and get comforted.

3. TENT OF DELIGHT

And of Zebulun he said, Rejoice, Zebulun, in thy going out;

and, Issachar, in thy tents.

                                                                                    - Deuteronomy 33:18

Issachar means Reward. God is going to give a reward and therefore he should rejoice.

Even so there should be joy, happiness and peace at home – the reward of God.  It could also be an economical reward and through that a great joy.

4. TENT OF REBELLION OR STUBBORNESS

What should not be there in our Tent?  How our Tent should not be?

For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered

together against the Lord…

… Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch

nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.

-          Numbers 16:11,12,26

This was a terrible tent.  God says do not stay here, depart from this wicked tent.

We should not rebel against God or his servants or children.  Our house should be a house or tent of obedience.  Only then there would be blessings of God.

Because of their rebellious nature they lost everything over here.  Let us not be so and lose blessings, but let us obey God and receive his blessings.

5. TENT OF PROTECTION

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of

his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

-          Psalms 27:5

At time of trouble the Lord shall hide us and protect us.  The one who protects us never slumbers nor sleeps.

He protects our house or tent through his divine protection.

6. TENT OF HEALING OR HEALTH

There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague

come nigh thy dwelling.

-          Psalms 91:10

These are the days where new new sickness is affecting people.  The Lord protected the children of Israel from the plagues that affected Egyptians.

Our house will be a place where God’s divine health is found.

7. TENT OF PREPARING OR READINESS

For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with

our house which is from heaven.

-          II Corinthians 5:2

This tent speaks about our body.  Our body should be always prepared and ready to meet up with God on his coming.

There should be holiness in out inner man.

GOD BLESS YOU
