Divine Help

II Chronicles 14:11 'And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us,

O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.'

In the above passage we read about the prayer of the king Asa. We see Asa uses beautiful words to seek help from the Lord. Even in our lives, we might face situations

where we are depending upon someone to help us. Here in this passage, we see Asa cried unto the Lord saying that he rest/leans upon the Lord alone. We the children of

the Lord must lean on the Lord God at any given situation. Our Lord is able to do great things for us from the smallest of things. The Lord is able to work out from

anything in order to assist us to overcome any situations. We read in I Samuel 14:6 'And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over

unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.' Jonathan and the

armour bearer had a faith that the Lord will save them by any means and there is no restraint to the Lord. Instead of focussing on what by means the Lord is going to do

the battle, we need to focus on who is doing the battle on our behalf.

When we look into how the Lord exalted Abraham, we read in Genesis 18:14 'Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according

to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.' The Lord proved that nothing is impossible for him and blessed him at the appointed time. Nothing is impossible for our

Lord and he will do great things. Today we are going to meditate on how the Lord helped his children by using the smallest of things.

Way by wind

Exodus 14:21 'And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land,

and the waters were divided.'

Here we see the people of Israel when they started their journey they faced a trouble. The massive red sea was in front of them as a barrier to move forward and also

they were chased by the army of Pharoah. In the above passage we read Moses stretched out his arm over the sea which caused an east wind. The Lord used the east wind to

make a new way for his children. The Lord parted the great sea and paved a new way for his children. We read in Psalm 74:13 'Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength.'

The Lord took the nature into his hands and changes the wind as a weapon to guide his children. The people of Israel were trembled to see the roaring sea in front of

them on one hand and on the other hand the Egyptian army behind them. During this situation, the Lord takes the wind into his hands and did a great thing for his people.

For a man it is a time of struggle but for God that was the right time to reveal his strength in guiding them. Even in our lives, we are struggling to move forward in

many things. We need to believe that is an easy thing for the Lord to deliver us from that situation. The Lord has prepared a new way for us. The Lord will work out

in such a way where he will send his help and will show us his divine way. We read in Exodus 14:22 'And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon

the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.' The land which had the waters right from its creation became a dry ground.

We can assume that the east wind not only parted the sea but also dried up the ground. The Lord protected his children and led them through a path with raised walls on

both sides. It is nothing for God to use the wind.

Sweetness by a small tree

Exodus 15:22,23,25 'So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.

And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. And he cried unto the LORD;

and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he

proved them.'

In the above passage, we see the people were walking in the wilderness without water. They walked for three days without water. They came to a place called Marah which

had water but it was bitter. Here the Lord gave an alternate way where he showed them a tree. When they threw it into the water, it was made sweet. The power of the Lord

which was revealed through a tree made the bitterness into sweet. The Lord has medicine to change any form of bitterness as he is a healer. Our Lord is a Lord who prepares

ways in the wilderness. In verse 24, we read the people murmured against Moses in that situation. If only they had know the solution of the Lord earlier, they would

not have complained. Even in our lives, we need to believe that it is nothing is impossible for the Lord. We may think it just an ordinary tree but the tree took

away all the bitterness and brought a remedy to that situation.

Sustained by small cake

I Kings 17:12-13 'And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering

two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die. And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me

thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.'

Here we see Elijah was sent to Zarepath by the Lord God. In the above passage, we can see the situation of a widow who was preparing a cake for them in order to eat and

die. When she obeyed the words of Elijah and she made the first cake for him. This enabled her to survive in her life. The small cake she made for Elijah sustained her

and her son. The Lord knew the situation of the family and which is why he told Elijah to go Zarepath. Elijah did not know why the brook dried up and he was not aware

of the entire shifting situation. Elijah did not pray to the Lord that he will still stay in the same place. But he obeyed the Lord and started to relocate.

When we look into the situation of widow, they had nothing in their hands. They are ready to gather the sticks to make the cake and die. When Elijah asked her to make the

first cake for him, she did not question him. She obeyed to the words of the servant of the Lord. This act of hers increased the power of the Lord to be revealed in our

lives. Even in our lives, we might go through similar situations where we feel difficult to survive. Today, we need to submit ourselves to obey to the words of the Lord.

Our actions of sacrifice will make the power of the Lord sustain in our lives. Just like the widow gave a cake to the servant of God, today we need to ask the Lord what

is that we need to do in our lives ? It is an easy thing for a Lord to make use of the small cake. The small cake enabled her to sustain. The power of the Lord will

sustain us. The famine-like situatons will change in our lives. May the Lord send his divine help to change our hard situations. Amen.
