SUNDAY SERMONS

Jesus Climbed the Mountain

"And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain" Matt 5:1. "Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them" Matt 4:8, 10. Jesus Christ went up to the mountain to be tested by the devil. Jesus won the test of Saton. This mountain experience teaches us that when we are tested by devil, we should come victorious out of it with the help of the word of God. "And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray, and when the evening was come, he was there alone" Matt 14:23. Here Jesus went up to a mountain to pray. Jesus went "alone" and prayed. This tells us about the personal prayer of Jesus. When we face storms and hardships in our life, we should pray for additional grace and mercy from God. In the quiet time of prayer we get lot of counsels from God. "... and went up into a mountain and sat down there" Matt 15:29. Here we find that Jesus sat on the mountain to feed the multitudes. God has called us to meet the needs of others. When we feed others we get the real satisfaction in life. When we preach the word of God to others we get a satisfaction in the depth of our heart. "And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart" Matt 17:1. Jesus went to the mount of transfiguration with Peter, James and John. This shows the brotherly love of Jesus Christ. While coming to the Church, we should come with a band of new believers. Only if we have the Love of God in us we will be taken up in the rapture. We should have good relationship with God and man "And he sat up in the Mount of Olives .......... What shall be the sign of the coming, and of the end of the world" Matt 24:3. He we see, Jesus went up to a mountain to tell people the future happenings during his second coming. Here we see mountains being pictured in the second coming of Jesus Christ. This shows that we should always be ready for the Lord's coming. Whenever Jesus went to mountain. He had a message for the people. Let us hinder to the messages spoken from the mountains and live a heavenly life in this world. Amen.
