SUNDAY SERMONS

How to Pray

1) Our Father which art in Heaven : ( Mathew: 6:9) We should start our prayer saying “Our father in heaven”. We should look only at Him. Our full concentration should be in prayer. We should pray to our Lord God with our full heart. Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other name. For there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved”. From this it is very clear that except Jesus no one or no other religion will give us salvation. Lord Jesus has given us rights to call our Lord God as ‘Father’. 2) Hallowed Be thy Name : (Mathew 6:9) Lev-11:45 “……Ye shall therefore be holy, for I am Holy”. Since God is Holy we should also be holy. When we call the Holy God we should also be holy. Every time we pray we should ask the Holy God to make us Holy. Only when we are holy he will hear our prayers and answers us. 3) Thy Kingdom Come : (Mathew 6:10) Through this verse Jesus reveals us the hidden secret. From this verse we understand that we should always be ready to meet him in his second coming. Every minute we should have the hope that we will meet him. 4) Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven : ( Mathew 6:10) We can say this has “Thy will be done my my house as it is in heaven”. In short we should submit every thing to his will. In Mathew 26:39-42 we see that Jesus submit himself to the will of the Lord. Jesus lived as an example for us. We should know whatever happening around us in according to his will. 5) Give us this day our daily bread : (Mathew 6:11) Here ‘bread’ signifies spiritual bread. Our spirit should have a good fellowship with our Lord. Lord God will give certain verses which will be the bread for the spirit. No matter how strong we are physically, if we are weak spiritually then we are weak. If our spirit don’t get the bread then we will face only failures. So we should receive this spiritual food from our Lord. 6) And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors : (Mathew 6:12) Before we starting our prayer we should forgive others. Only if we forgive others Lord God will forgive us. Mathew 18:21,22 “ Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seven times seventy.” 7) And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil : (Mathew 6:13) Only after 6 points we should ask things for our own things. Till last point we ask God to sanctify us and only now we should ask for our protection. Satan deceives us in many ways and so we have to get His protection. 8) For thine is the Kingdom, Power and the Glory forever : (Mathew 6:13) We should say that only His Power ad Glory led us all these days and it is the reason for our Victories. It was not because of our talents but it was because of Him. We should thank Him because he exalted us. Amen.
