God is my strength - 2
God is my strength - 2
Habakkuk 3:19 'The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.'
As recorded in the above promise verse, our Lord alone is our strength. When we have the Lord almighty as our strength, he will give us his divine grace to walk in
high places. The word strength is derived from the Hebrew word 'Khahyil' which refers to force. Our Lord God gives his strength to his children in every part of their
lives. Today, we will meditate on the instances in the Bible where this word has been mentioned and how the strenght of God operated and waht it granted to his children.
Courage
Ezra 8:22 'For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king,
saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.'
Here we see they required a protection in their way to Babylon. In this situation, they needed a band of soldiers and horsemen to protect them in their way. The word
'Soldier' here is derived from the Hebrew word Khahyil. Like how the soldiers used to protect by guarding them from the dangers, so will the strength of the Lord will
give us courage and will protect us. We need to have that divine courage that the strength of the Lord is with us. In the above passage, we can read that Ezra was
ashamed to seek help from the Lord. Bible scholars call this as a 'holy shame'. But when he admitted his requirement, the Lord took away his fears and strengthened him.
We see Ezra needed soldiers to help him handling the enemies in his way. Even in our lives, the Lord's strength will give us his divine courage and it will act as a
support. When we seek the Lord in tough situations, the hands of the Lord will bring goodness. There might be many things will scare us, many people who may say
negative things to us but we need to rely only on the Lord. We read in Ezra 3:23 'So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.' When we keep
everything in prayer and seek the Lord God with all our heart, our prayers will be answered. The Lord's strength will descend on us and it will give us courage to face
mnay things in our lives.
Power
Esther 8:11 'Wherein the king granted the Jews which were in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay, and to cause
to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, both little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey,'
The word 'power' in the above passage also derived from the Hebrew word Khahyil. We can see the power here came against Esther and the children of the Lord. When we read
in Esther 9:1 'Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in
execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated
them.' We can see there was conspiracies against the Jews in order to prevail them. During the times of Esther, the children of the Lord were minorities and they had
to face a huge conspiracy. But the strength of the Lord came as a power which suppressed all the powers in the world. It came and changed everything in the favour
of God's children. The power of the Lord overcame the power of Haaman. Just as how the worried Jews began to rejoice, so will the power of the Lord will work in our
favour. The power of the Lord will overcome the power of diseases and demons that come against us.
Wealth
Proverbs 13:22 'A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.'
The blessing from the Lord will not only stop with us, it will pass on to our generations. The word 'wealth/inheritance' is derived from the Hebrew word Khahyil. The
strength of the Lord will provide us wealth. The Lord has reserved certain blessings for us and the strength of the Lord will operate in such a way that we inherit
them. All the blessings that were on hold, will be released by the strength of the Lord. In Deuteronomy 8:18 'But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that
giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.' As per this verse, we can see that Lord gives
us strength to earn wealth. When God gives us his strength, the wealth of the Lord will be added along with it. Today, we need to seek for the strength of the Lord rather
than seeking riches and wealth. When the strength of the man decreases, the Lord strength will increase and bring in wealth. Amen.
