Perfected Sychar

John 4:5 'Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.'

Here we read that Jesus came to the city of Samaria which is known as the town of Sychar. Jesus wanted to reform certain things over there which is the reason why 

travelled to that place. Today we are going to meditate the things that happened while Jesus came into the town of Sychar. In John 4:39 'And many of the Samaritans of 

that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.' As we read in this passage, we can understand that the people

believed in the name of the Lord because of the words of the Samarian woman. Many people in that town believed in Jesus and their lack of faith was changed. In the old

testament, we can read about the place called Shechem in Genesis 33:19 'And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of 

Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money.' Bible researchers cliam that Shechem is also known as Sychar. The word Sychar refers to wrong, deception,

confusion and many other negative meanings. But the Lord came in search of this kind of place and he wanted reform that place. Today, let us meditate on the steps on

how the people of Sychar went from this belief in Jesus. 

Divine predestination

John 4:6 'Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.'

Our Lord had a predestination concerning the people of Sychar. All the plans of God started to unfold for the people of Sychar. The Lord predestined to lift the 

Samarian woman from her sinful life and he used her to fulfill his predestined plan. The entire travel of the Lord Jesus to Sychar was a part of his plan. Jesus never

went anywhere without a purpose. The Lord purposed to change the town of Sychar to a town of faith. In the above verse we can read that the Lord Jesus sat down near

the well. This very act is also a part of God's plan. Each and every move of Jesus had a purpose. In Matthew 8:24-26, we can read that the Lord Jesus slept not because

he was tired but to teach the disciples a lesson of faith. He wanted to teach his disciples a great lesson in order to boost their faith. When Jesus came near Jacob's

well, it was the sixth hour. The Lord chose the sixth hour and planned to meet the woman near the well. Jesus perfectly executes his plan to fulfill his purpose of

visit. The divine time of God never fails. 

The plan of the Lord is not only meeting the Samarian woman but also change the people of Sychar through her. We read in John 4:30 'Then they went out of the city, and 

came unto him.' The people of Sychar believed in the name of the Lord through the Samarian woman. Even in our lives, we are praying for many things. We are facing a 

delay in certain promises to be fulfilled. We the children of God must understand that the divine plan of God never fails. The predestined plans of God will surely 

fulfill in our lives. 

Divine word

John 4:7 'There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.'

In the above passage we can see Jesus strikes a conversation with the Samarian woman. A divine word started to come from the Lord Jesus. The woman who came near the

well according to the divine predetination and Jesus was also there according to the predestined plan. This encounter between Jesus and the woman is the predestination.

The woman was led the right place at the right time and she received the word from the Lord. The main reason why the woman came near the well is that she needed water. 

This need for water arose in her life just to make her cross paths with the Lord Jesus. When she met Jesus and received his words, her entire life was changed. Even

in our lives, we need to pray to receive the the powerful life changing words from the Lord. 

Divine abundance

John 4:11 'The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?'

Over here, we see the woman talks to Jesus with contrary things. The woman was talking about the lacking things by having Jesus who is a God of abundance. She did not

realize that she is speaking to the Lord of fullness who has planned to perfect Sychar. We read in John 4:12 'Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the 

well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?' The woman was praising about her forefathers but she did not realize that the Lord came to Sychar

to lift her like her forefathers. The Lord took the same woman who thought how can she be blessed one and made her a great blessing to the entire land. Later she

received the revelation concerning Jesus everything changed. We read this in John 4:19 'The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.' The 

knowledge of knowing Jesus will bring in divine abundance in her life. As we read in I Corinthians 13:10 'But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in 

part shall be done away.' Even in our lives, let us not be whining about the lacks in our lives. Let us learn to be faithful on the Lord of abundance. In order to

perfect Sychar, the divine predestination, divine words and divine abundance of the Lord birthed. Amen.
