Word of the Lord to Egyptians
Exodus 9:19-20 'Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and
shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die. He that feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his
servants and his cattle flee into the houses'
In the above passage we can understand that the Lord desires to rescue the Egyptians from the upcoming plague. The Lord God was so gracious and kind not only to the
children of Israel but also for the Egyptians. The Lord reveals what he isabout to do to the world through his mesenger. The Lord clearly instructs what needs to be
done to save themselves. In verse twenty, we see there were some servants of Pharaoh who feared the word of the Lord. The word of the Lord came for them in order to
protect them. Even in our lives, the word of the Lord is not only for us but also for the whole world. The Lord desires to make us a blessing to others. He has planned
certain things for this world to be blessed through the children of the Lord. As a part of today's meditation, let us see the great plan that God had for his people
in Egypt who feared him.
God's Caution
Exodus 9:19-20 'Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and
shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die. He that feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his
servants and his cattle flee into the houses'
We see the Lord sends a word to Pharaoh through his messenger. The Lord cautions that they will be facing hailstorm in the land. In the above verse we can see a divine
caution from the Lord. Pharaoh's servans who feared the Lord listened to the word of the Lord/ caution and rescued themselves. Even in the strange land of Egypt
there were Egyptians who feared the Lord. Those who had the fear of the Lord were rescued at the time of destruction. Same way in the times of Noah, he cautioned
people about the heavy rains but people did not worry about the cautions. Also in Genesis 19:14 'And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his
daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.' Here we can see the
sons in law of Lot mocked on the cautions given by him. We read in Genesis 18:18 'And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do.' The Lord will
caution his children about their future and also to the world. The Lord will also convey certain things to the world in order to save them from the destructions in the
end of times. But those who fear concerning his words, will be saved.
God's covering
Exodus 9:25-26 'And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and
brake every tree of the field. Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.'
The Lord not only cautions his people but also rescues them from the destruction. The plagues in the land of Egypt were a judgement for the slavery and bondage of the
Israelites but the Lord exempts the people of God from the destruction. We see in the land of Goshen there were no hail. Even though the calamity strikes the entire
nation, but the Lord safeguards the place of his children. We read in Psalm 91:7 'A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall
not come nigh thee.' The Lord will protect his children from all the plagues and dangers. No evil has fall into the tents of his children. As we see in the above
passage, the Lord saved his children and also everything that pertains to them. The nature itself set a difference to the children of the Lord. The hailstorm did not
pour upon the places where the people of the Lord resided. This is the divine covering of the Lord. As we read in Exodus 9:29 'that thou mayest know how that the
earth is the LORD'S.' Our Lord will protect our families in such a fashion that we are set apart from others. Through the miracles the world will know that the earth
belongs to our Lord God.
God's constitution
Exodus 9:27 'And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.'
Here we see Pharaoh witnessed everything that the Lord has did for his children and makes a confession. He confesses that the Lord is righteous. We read in
Exodus 9:29 ' and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer.' The King realized how the righteous Lord is judging for his people and he let Israelites leave
immediately without further ado. Even in our lives, those who witness the works of the Lord in our lives should make such a confession. The revelation of God's glory
should make people realize that we serve a righteous Lord. We might ask a lot of questions about the unwanted things in our lives, but we should believe that the
righteous Lord will deliver us. We will soon hear it be said that the thing stood against us is removed. Therefore, let us pray to God that we should receive the
word of the Lord and his revealtion to guard ourselves in our lives. Amen.
