Word of the Lord -5

 
II Chronicles 36:22 'Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of 
Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation 
throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,'
 
In the above passage we read the word of the Lord spoken by the mouth of his servant. The word of the Lord by the mouth of
Jeremiah was fulfilled in this passage. When we read in the book of Ezra and Nehemiah, we can learn that the temple of
the Lord and the walls of Jerusalem are being build again. But when we look into from where and how the Lord initiates
certain things to rebuild these things are fascinating. In the above passage, we can read the word of the Lord came to the 
king of Persia. When we say Persia, this is a gentile land. The Lord initiates his plan from Persia a gentile land not 
from Jerusalem. The word of the Lord changes the minds of people who are against the children of the Lord and 
fulfills the plans for his children. Our God takes kings and kingdoms into his hand to fulfil his will. The word of the 
Lord is powerful to work through anyone to anything for his children. We read in II Chronicles 36:21 'To fulfil the word 
of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept 
sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.' We read at the end of seventy years, things fell into its place to fulfill
the word of the Lord. The word of the Lord will do its work in the appointed time from an unexpected place. Today, let us 
meditate on how the word of the Lord was fulfilled and what are the things that God works out for his children. 
 
Unction of the Spirit
 
Ezra 1:1 'Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be 
fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, 
and put it also in writing, saying,'
 
When we look into the place where the word of the Lord initiated, it started from an unexpected place. The Lord stirred 
up the spirit of Cyrus, king of Persia. The Lord is laying a foundation by stirring up the spirit. In order for God's
word to be fulfilled, God's unctions even those who are not his children to fulfill his will. The people of Israel did
not fight for this, but the Lord stirred up the spirit of the King who is against them. We should not expect the Holy
Spirit to only work in one way, within our circle and within our nation. The Holy Spirit can work in anyway and with 
anyone. We need to believe that the Holy Spirit will help us so that the word of the Lord be fulfilled in our lives. Here
in this situation, we see the word of the Lord was fulfilled as the King who was against Israel became an ally. The Lord
can unction and raise people for his children. 
 
Fulfillment of God's plan
 
Ezra 1:2 'Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath 
charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.'
 
Here we can see the Lord commanded the king of Persia to build a house for the Lord. The Lord stirs up the king all the
night and did not allow him to sleep. He charged Cyrus to fulfill his plan. We the children of Lord should believe the 
word of the Lord and the plan of the Lord will surely be fulfilled in our lives. We should not focus on the hurdles but on 
the word of the Lord. In order to fulfill the words of the Lord in the book of Ezra, the foundation was laid already in
the book of Chronicles. Whatever we read in II Chronicles 36:22 is getting repeated in Ezra 1:1. The people of Israel
did not understand how the Lord is working because it was desolate for seventy years. The Lord brings in certain changes
in his kingdom. We read in II Chronicles 36:20 'And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where 
they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:' We can notice that there was a major
change in the establishment of Persian kingdom. This might have worried the children of Israel. They would have thought
that the enemies are getting stronger. But the Lord was behind all these things and he brings rulers and governments in
favour for the children of the Lord. 
 
In II Chronicles 36:19 'And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces
thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.' The Lord made use of those that brake the walls of 
Jerusalem and burnt all the palaces in order to fulfill his plan. When the temples were destroyed and burnt and Chaldeans
on the other ruined the plans of the Lord. This would have been despressing for the people of Israel. But in a broken
state, the word of the Lord began to fulfuill according to his will. Even in our lives, things can seem broken and burnt.
Our spiritual lives would have been broken. The Lord wants us to believe in the word of the Lord. The plans of the Lord
will be fulfilled and it will change our lives. 
 
Restoration
 
Ezra 1:11 'All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring 
up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.'
 
From the above passage, we can read that whatever thinsg were robbed and taken into Babylon has been taken back to
Jerusalem. The Lord not only made them retunred to their land but also restored them. The Lord gave them everything
they lost. Even though God's people were scattered from the land, the word of the Lord unites them. The people of Israel
nothing in their hands, their enemies took everything from them. They were homeless and lonely. But wherever they were, 
the Lord God was with them. When we look into the life of Joseph, the Lord was with him when he was down in the well. 
The people of Israel never thought that they will go back to their former state. Even in our lives, everything we lost 
will be restored by the Lord God. We will experience unexpected surprises in our lives. In John 10:10 'The thief cometh
not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more
abundantly.' The word of the Lord gives us the unction of the spirit, fulfill his plans and restores us. Amen.
