Kingdom of God

Kingdom of God

Proverbs 21:1 “The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

In the above passage we see the Lord turns the King’s heart according to his will. Even in this world, the hearts of all the authorities and the rulers are in the hands of the Lord. Our God takes control of their hearts and he turns it according to the favor of his children. We read in Proverbs 16:1 ‘The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD. We need to understand that a man can think whatever he wants but the answer from his mouth is from the Lord. It signifies that our actions are enclosed within the God’s authority. The Lord’s authority is above all the authorities in this world. Today let us meditate how the Lord God changes the hearts of the kings in the scripture.

God’s word

Ezra 1:1 ‘Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

In the above verse we can see the word of the God came out of the mouth of Jeremiah.  We see God’s word fulfilled exactly as it came forth from the mouth of Jeremiah. When we read Jeremiah 25:11-12 we can understand that the word of the God spoken came to life. The powerful word of the Lord stirred up the Gentile king of Persia. It made the King to bring in a law to build a church for the Lord and his children.  The word of the God establishes its authority and led the kings and kingdoms that did not recognize the power of God.  Interestingly, the word of the Lord stirs up the hearts of the Kings who are not ready to accept him and his children. The word of the Lord enables them to do a favorable thing and even shifts things for the benefit of his children. Just as the word of the Lord changed the heart of Cyrus king of Persia, will also change all the opposing authorities in our lives.

God’s inspiration

Ezra 1: ‘Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

Here we see the Lord stirred up the heart of the King. The literal meaning for the word ‘stirred up’ would mean to awaken or to rattle. We see normal people cannot suggest or make the king to do anything. In such cases where we cannot speak to some authorities, the Lord will urge their hearts. The Lord will speak on our behalf and he will do things we needed in our lives. When we the children of God pray, the Lord will speak for us.  In Esther 6:1 ‘On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king. We see the Lord wishes to speak in the Kingdom for Mordecai who was a keeper at the door. The Lord wanted to take Mordecai inside so he stirs up the heart of the King. As a result, we see the King loses his sleep and he commands to bring the book of records of the chronicles. When he begins to read, he understands that Mordecai saved his life. Coincidentally, we see Haman comes to take the take the life of Mordecai. But the Lord did not delay and stirs up the heart of the King at the right time. The Lord exalted Mordecai in just one night and brings him to the throne from the door where he was standing. Even in our lives, the Lord promises that his kingdom will inspire the Kings and exalt his children.

God’s Power

Ezra 1:2 ‘Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

Over here we see Cyrus king of Persia acknowledges our Lord. A gentile king approves that the Lord God of heaven has given the kingdoms of the earth. He accepts the divinity of the Lord and confesses that the Lord has charged him to build a house of the Lord. Truly speaking, the king of Persia glorifies the Lord and he proclaims it.  He proved that our Lord has the ultimate authority and power over all the authorities in the earth.  We see the Lord gives the power and authority to whomsoever he desires. In Daniel 4:17 ‘This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.’ As recorded in this verse, he sets the lowest of men on the highest authority. When we remain faithful to the Lord, the power of the God will exalt us. The power of the Lord is not reduced a bit and is working for his children all the time.

God’s will

Ezra 1:3 ‘Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.

As God’s word, power and inspiration did its work, it paved the way for the fulfillment of the God’s will. In order to build a house of the Lord, the word/power/inspiration worked in the heart of the king. When we do something according to the God’s will, our needs will be supplied. In Ezra 1:6 ‘And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered.  The people around supported and offered willingly for the construction. When the work that we do is in line with God’s will, support will come in search of us. In Ezra 6:14-16, we see the house of the Lord was dedicated finally.

Therefore, let us make the heavenly prayer in Matthew 6:9-13 and invite the kingdom of the Lord. As recorded in the verse let ‘Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven’. The Lord will turn everything in our favor in our lives and we will literally experience the changes.  Amen.
