God who remembers
God who remembers
In the above passage we read that God remembered Noah and those were with him. We read in Genesis 7:24 ‘And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.’ Though the waters prevailed upon the earth for hundred and fifty days, the God proves in Genesis 8:1 that he has not forgotten Noah. When God remembered Noah, God’s loving care began in his life. We are going to meditate upon the results or impacts when God remembered Noah.
Brings forth wind
As a result of God’s remembrance, he brings in the wind upon the earth. Since the rain had brought chaos over the earth, the Lord brought in winds to clear it off. This signifies that God gets into the work of rebuilding and restoring the earth. The Lord uses the wind to dry up the surface of the earth. As recorded in the verse, soon as the wind blew the waters were subsided. The water evaporated and the earth returned to the state it was created in. Even in our lives, the Lord God will send in a divine wind. The miraculous wind will sweep away all the dirty and unwanted things in our lives.
Restrains the opposition
Genesis 8:2 ‘The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;’
In this verse we see the fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven which were the reason for the whole destruction of all the living creatures on earth were shut down. Noah and everyone that were in the Ark had the opposition from all the sides. They had rains pouring above them and they had waters below them. They had lot of obstacles in getting down to the surface of the earth. But the Lord remembered them and restrains the nature for his children. The power of opposition might be more than the strength we have and they may overcome us. No matter how big the opposing force we have in our lives, the Lord will shut them down. All the powers and forces that oppressed us shall oppress us no more. We worship the Lord who restrains all the forces of nature. All the things that went out of control will be put under control. Today the Lord God will restrain all the opposing evil forces in our lives.
Gave new life
Genesis 8:4 ‘And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.’
In the above verse, we see the exact details were recorded regarding the resting of the Ark. After a restless 150 days, the Ark came to a halt. When the Ark rested, the Lord drops off Noah in a world where there was no one else. The Lord creates a new place. The Lord wanted them to have a fresh start on the earth. All their days in ark would have been filled with anxiety and fear but when they stepped out of the Ark the Lord gives them a new life. Even in our lives, we might be having sleepless nights, might be restless. Today the Lord promises us that he will give us a new life. The Lord almighty will give us a peaceful life to rest and will bless us with a new home.
The Lord brings them to ‘Ararat’ a new place in the nation of Turkey. The word Ararat would mean a holy place in Sanskrit. The Lord wanted to save Noah from the sinful place and keep him in Ararat, a holy place. The Lord gives his children a new life in the holy place. The Lord will give a life that lasts forever.
Showed them mountains
In the above verse we see the tops of the mountain were seen. This visual would have instilled a hope to Noah that waters have come down. All these while wasters had covered the hills, but now the tops of the mountains were seen. This signifies that God will show us mountains that we need to climb to have the experience of elevation. When the waters were on the earth, it covered all the tops of mountains. The Ark floated upon the waters above the mountains. The Lord also led them down from the high places of the mountains to Ararat safely. Even in our lives, we are not at the foot of the mountains but above them. This is the elevation that Lord gives children. The Lord himself will lead us to the mountain like elevations and will drop us safely amidst of oppositions.
Gave Peace
Here we see the dove brings an olive leaf to Noah. This signifies a peace. Until Noah’s time, the earth did not experience the act of rains. When we read Genesis 2:6 ‘But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.’ We can understand the how the water touched the ground. The very first act of rain brings in an great destruction. Here when the dove brings the leaf, it reflected a divine peace. The Lord commanded a perpetual peace to Noah and his people in the Ark. Even in our lives, the Lord God fills us with a divine peace to his children.
Therefore, let us all pray that God should remember us all and should bless us abundantly. Amen.
