Blessings of Joshua
Blessings of Joshua
Over here we see Joshua goes through a difficult phase in his life. He was in a great distress. But the Lord changes the sad situation and makes him to receive new blessings. The lord gives him new blessing amidst of his sad situations. The Lord not only saved him from sadness but also blessed him. The Lord changed the mourning of Joshua and takes him to the next level. When we look into the life of Joshua, he had no time to think about his sadness. Even in our lives, we tend to overthink and worry when we have more time. Today, the Lord God will take away all our sad situations and will make us all happy. Just as we read in John 16:20 ‘Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.’ The Lord will change our weeping into Joy. As a part of today’s meditation let us see the blessings that Lord gave to his servant Joshua.
New Era
The death of Moses brings a great sorrow to the people of Israel and also to Joshua. It affected him to a great extent as he should be leading the people. That is when the Lord speaks to Joshua and instructs him to do certain things. The Lord asks him to understand his positions and wants him to focus on his purpose. We can see Joshua was exalted from an assistant to a leader level. In the midst of sorrow, Joshua receives a new exaltation. The leadership came to an end and then Joshua takes over. Moses starts the journey and Joshua takes over and completes it. As we read in Job 8:7 ‘Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.’ Joshua not only led the people but also successfully divides the boundaries By doing this, Joshua created a new era. Many of us are thinking what will be our life like after lockdown? Are we confused with the new restrictions? We the children of God should not forget that Joshua was exalted during the crisis time. Today, the Lord God will give us grace to face all the challenges in our lives.
New fellowship
Here we see the Lord started to speak to Joshua. This signifies a new fellowship that was created between Joshua and the Lord. It starts from the very first verse in this chapter. The fellowship brings in a lot of fruitful results. We read in Joshua 10:12 ‘Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.’ This passage we can see Joshua started to talk to the Lord casually as their fellowship became stronger. Due to the fellowship, Joshua experienced a super natural blessing. In Joshua 10:13 ‘And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.’ The Lord worked out a super natural miracle for Joshua and his people. It is only due to the fellowship of Joshua, the Lord decided to control the nature until they received a victory.
In Deuteronomy 34:10 ‘And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,’ In this passage we see the fellowship of Moses. The scripture clearly says there is no prophet as Moses. He was a great man who had a great fellowship with the Lord. About Joshua, we read in Joshua 10:14 ‘And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.’ Even in our lives, we have come into the times where we can build a robust fellowship with the Lord. When we have a good fellowship, the Lord will work our super natural miracles for us.
New responsibilities
In the above passage, we see the Lord spoke to Joshua and instructs him to move ahead. The Lord asks him not to worry about the death of Moses. The Lord wants Joshua and his people to arise and go to the destination. The Lord gives new responsibilities to Joshua. We see Joshua realized his responsibilities and executes it boldly. Even in our lives, we need to rise up to handle new responsibilities. The Lord of Joshua will give us grace to fulfill our new assignments. Let us prepare and submit ourselves for the new responsibilities in our lives.
New miracles
Here we Joshua take the responsibilities after the death of Moses. He was assigned to do certain duties and also should face challenges in his life. But Joshua did not complain or question God. We need to understand that Joshua was not trained like Moses. Yet he agreed to take up this task. The faith of Joshua enabled him to face all the hurdles and challenges. The Lord was with him and led him victoriously. Joshua had a miraculous start as soon as he took over. Jordan and Jericho did not stop Joshua to move ahead in his life. It is not just goodness and mercy but also miracles followed him. The ministry that Moses began was successfully completed by Joshua. Even in our lives, we might walk through a difficult time. Do not worry, the Lord of Joshua is bringing in a new era, a new fellowship, a new assignment and a new miracles in our lives. Amen.
