Lord of Israel – 9

Lord of Israel – 9

Fulfils what he has promised

Introduction

I Kings 8:15 “And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,

In the above passage we see Solomon confirms that the Lord has fulfilled what was promised to his father. In the verse we see the Lord spoke with this mouth and fulfills the promise with his hands. What was promised verbally gets fulfilled by the might hands of the Lord. In order to witness the fulfillment of the Lord’s promise, we the children of God must adhere to certain things. We read in Genesis 18:19 ‘For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.’ As rightly recorded in this verse, we need to keep the way of the Lord righteously and should do justice and judgment. Only when we remain righteous, our promises will be fulfilled.

Today let us meditate on the promises that came out of the mouth of the Lord and will see how he fulfilled them for his children.

Goodness

Isaiah 1:19 ‘If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

            We should clearly understand the fact that the Lord of Israel is ready and willing to bless his children. To obtain the due blessings, we need to get closer to the Lord God. We might be waiting on the Lord’s promises for a very long time or might be wondering as to why we did not receive certain blessings in our lives. It might seem like the Lord has not answered our prayer for a very long time. One of the key reasons why our blessings are on hold is recorded in Isaiah 1:15-16 ‘And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

Today, the Lord of Israel wants his children to be sanctified in his presence. We the children of God should have a spiritual purge to cleanse ourselves. In Isaiah 1:17 ‘Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.’ As recorded in this verse, we need to be seasoned in doing the things that please our Lord God. We need to understand that only when we do good deeds we can expect a return. In Proverbs 19:17 ‘He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.’ We the children of God should start doing good things in the church and in the society. When we do so, the Lord of Israel will surely repay us with his goodness.

Peacefulness

Micah 4:4 “But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.

The above passage clearly explains the divine peace given by the Lord God. Here it is described as sitting under the fig and vine tree. This signifies a state of peace that is given by the Lord God.

In I Kings 4:25 ‘And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.’ We see the people of Israel lived peacefully during the reign of King Solomon. They were not filled with any fear or danger during his governance until Solomon inclined his heart towards the strange Gods. This we read in I Kings 11:4 ‘For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.’ When Solomon drifts his heart to the wrong direction, he loses the divine peacefulness.

Despite of his blunder, the Lord of Israel cautions him two times in his vision. We read in I Kings 11:9 ‘And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,’ But Solomon did not obey the words of the Lord which paved the way for his downfall. Even in our lives, we need to embrace the words of God to be on the safer side. We need to protect the peace of the Lord Almighty by meditating the words of God. As recorded in John 14:27 ‘Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.’ Let us protect and keep the peace that the Lord God has given us and incline our hearts to the right things.

Answer

Isaiah 34:16 “Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.

We the children of God must believe in the prophetic words in the Bible. The situations we face might be contradictory but the Lord God will never forsake us. He listens and will answer all our prayers. When we wait on the promises of the Lord, we need to strengthen ourselves by meditating the words of God. Only if we keep reading the scripture, we can bridge the gap in between. This is the only way that can help us to get answers for all our prayers. Therefore, let us all meditate the word of God and get answers for all our prayers.

Honor

Isaiah 58:14 “Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Just like we read in the above passage, the Lord God is going to make his children ride on high hills. He will give his children the blessing of our ancestors that we will bring in a delight. This is the honor that the Lord God gives to his children. In order to be honored by the Lord, it is equally important to honor our Lord God. When we observe the Sabbath day with all due reverence and obedience, the Lord’s name will be glorified and honored. This we read in Isaiah 58:13 ‘If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

Therefore, we the children of God should believe that the Lord of Israel will fulfill what he has promised his children. When we build our faith on the Lord God, all the goodness and peace will follow us. All our prayer requests will be answered and we will be honored by the hands of the Lord. Amen.
