The visions of Joseph
The visions of Joseph
Introduction
Genesis 50:20 “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.”
In the above passage we see Joseph makes a confession that the Lord had turned everything for good in his life. Although his life was full of negativities, he trusted in the Lord God. Joseph was vision-sighted. This helped him to understand the purpose of the Lord concerning his life. His visions guided him to reach on top to rule the entire nation. Today let us meditate on the visions of Joseph which led him until the end of his life.
Joseph’s hope
Genesis 50:24 “And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die..”
A hope concerning himself – In the above passage we see Joseph had a hope on himself. He talks about his death to his family. This signifies that Joseph had a clear vision on himself. He had a vision concerning his last days. According to the world, when someone talks about death is inauspicious. But we the children of God should never presume things. Death is a sign of hope which lets us inherit the blessings of the Lord. Joseph fulfills certain things before the end of his times. When we read Acts 20:24 ‘But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.’ Though Paul walks through the toughest of times, he was never worried. He wanted to finish his race with joy. Even in our lives, we might have a plan for everything but do we have a vision concerning ourselves?
Genesis 50:24 “…and God will surely visit you..”
A hope concerning his family – We see all these while Joseph was the one who took care of his family all these years. In verse 24, he tells to his family that the Lord himself will take care of them. Joseph submits his entire family and everything to the hands of God. The word surely in the verse signifies a firm hope that Joseph had on the Lord God. Joseph was hundred percent sure that the Lord will take care of his generations after him just as we read Psalms 48:14 ‘For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide evenunto death.’ Joseph said that the Lord God will continue to visit them in his absence. The fellowship will continue from generations to generations. As recorded in Proverbs 23:18 ‘For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.’ The hope of Joseph was never cut off.
Genesis 50:24 “…and bring you out of this land unto the land..”
The land of Egypt was like a symbol of sins. As we read in the above passage the Lord asks them to move out of the land. The movement signifies that God wants them to move ahead to the next level. The Lord bears their burdens and fulfills his promises that were made to his forefathers.
Joseph’s plan of faith
Genesis 50:25 “And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.”
In the above passage we see Joseph talks to his family concerning his plans. He confidently spoke to his brothers and his family. It was a time where Joseph was filled with hope and faith. He teaches them what he need to do when God visits them. Joseph commands his family concerning the things of God. His plan of faith was so immense that God himself quotes him in Hebrews 11:22 ‘By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.’ Even in our lives, we need to be commanding to get the plans to be fulfilled in our lives.
Therefore, let us all pray to God that we have a clear visions concerning our lives. Let that vision be a guiding light and let it shine our way to inherit the blessings of the Lord. Amen.
