Resurrected Jesus

Matthew 28:5-6 “And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

We see the empty tomb of Jesus is the foundation of Christianity till date. Though Christ was resurrected as he said, people did not believe his resurrection. Therefore, the Lord wanted to prove his resurrection to them in many ways. Today, let us discuss on three major ways how Lord Jesus proved his resurrection to the people.

God’s word

Luke 24:27 “And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

One of the main reason why the people did not believe in the resurrection of the Lord was they failed to understand the preaching of the Christ. The resurrected Lord once again starts preaching to the people and make them understand the scripture. We read in Luke 24:25-26 ‘Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?’ When people did not believe him, the Lord Jesus rebuked them.

In Luke 24:15-16 ‘And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.’ Here we see their eyes of the people were shut. They were not able to recognize our Lord Jesus. But once they believed in the word of God, their eyes were opened. This we read in Luke 24:31-32 ‘And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?’ Even in our lives, when we believe in the word of God, all that are hidden and those that are out of reach will come to us. When we truly believe and feel the word of God, our hearts will burn out for the Lord God.

God’s work

John 21:6 “And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

After the crucifixion of the Christ, his disciples had a set back. They did not have their strong support system in their lives. As a result we see Simon Peter returns to his fishing job. In John 21:3 ‘Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.’ While fishing in the middle of the sea, they were struggling as they did not catch any fishes. Here we see the Lord asks them to cast their nets on the right side of the ship. The Lord performs a miracle to prove his resurrection. When they did what Jesus told them, they caught large number of fishes. The resurrected Jesus knew everything well in advance. He knew which boat they were sailing, he knew their problems and he performs a miracle. The Lord changes the situations that were rough and conflicting in the sea. As recorded in John 21:11 ‘Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.’ The Lord Jesus changes their failure into an unforgettable victory that day. Even in our lives, the resurrected Christ knows all our failures and he will perform a miracle for us.

God’s Love

John 21:9 “As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.

When the disciples were nearing the shore, they saw a fire of coals with fish laid on top. The Lord himself welcomes his disciples and he shows his love towards them. The Lord meets their needs by providing foods to them. He satisfies their hunger. In John 21:18 ‘Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.’ This passage clearly proves that the Lord Jesus is the Lord over the times. He clearly assures them that he will take in charge of their future. This signifies an immense love from the heavenly father on his children. Even in our lives, the Lord will shower his love upon us and we will be blessed abundantly. Amen.
