Miracles at the last moment -3

Introduction

Proverbs 21:31 “The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.”

            In the above passage we see the horse is prepared for the big day. But the victory comes from the hands of the Lord. In our lives, we may not be having any signs of miracle, but the Lord God will give us victory at the last moment. The Lord will supply all our needs at the right time.

As part of our meditation, let us see the miracles that took place at the last moment.

Miracle of Ezra’s victory

Ezra 6:15-16 “And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king. And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy,”

            Ezra had the most important responsibility to fulfil in his life which is to build a temple for the Lord God. During the course of building the temple, Ezra had to go through a volley of oppositions. But the hands of the Lord God was with Ezra to build the temple of God. The Lord fulfilled his will through Ezra and brings him a victory. Even in our lives, Lord expects us to be more responsible towards the goals he has given us. We might face some hindrances in our way while we fulfil the responsibilities but the Lord God will bring us victory. As we read in Job 42:2 ‘I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.’ Today let us meditate on the essentials that we need have in order to witness the last miracles in our lives.

Steadfast in Holiness

Ezra 4:1 “Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel”

            Here we see when the people came to know about Ezra to build the temple of the Lord, they tend to volunteer themselves. They wanted to join hands with Jews to build the temple of the Lord. But Zerubabel and Jeshua refused to join hands with them. In Ezra 4:3 ‘But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.’ They clearly understood the situation and acted wise at that point of time. Zerubabbel and Jeshua gave a fitting response to them and disowned the people who volunteered themselves. We the children of God should be in a position to discern certain things in our lives. Many people might offer themselves to join hands with us. But we need to be very cautious. Just because some people volunteered, it not necessarily lead us to the will of God. Wrong collaborations with wrong people will ruin the plans of God. We should seek the counsel of God when someone volunteers to help us fulfilling the responsibilities that God has given us. We need to steadfast in the holiness of the Lord.

Steadfast through Dismay

Ezra 4:4-7 “Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building, And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia. And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem. And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue.”

            When we join hands with unwanted people we will end up with disappointments and failures. We see Satan brought in many hindrances where the people bribed against Ezra on certain things. They rendered them inactive thus hindering the work of God. There were many oppositions arose against the construction of the temple of God. But the Lord did not forsake his people. Ezra was firm in his vision and he stood steadfast in dismay. He did not complain but he remained silent. Even in our lives, we should never react to certain things. When we face negativities, the situation will become weak if we stop reacting to it. The children of God should become stronger at the time of dismay.

Steadfast in God’s word

Ezra 6:14 “And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished -it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.”

            One of key reason why the children of God kept overcoming the hurdles is that they adhered to the words of God. The above passage we see the people were motivated by the prophesies of the prophets Zechariah and Haggai. Though the people had to face some contrary things, they believed in the promises of the Lord. The word of God helped them when they were discouraged. The word of God spoke to them right from Chapter 1:1 and it fulfilled its work by Chapter 6:14. We see when the Lord fulfils the things that were hindered,

-The enemies will stay away from us (Ezra 6:6)

-The enemies will receive money from the king for us to complete the hindered work. (Ezra 6:8)

-The needs will be met by our enemies for our worship. (Ezra 6:9)

-The hinderer will be thrown away. (Ezra 6:11)

-The Lord transforms enemies to support us. (Ezra 6:13)

-The Lord’s will gets fulfilled. (Ezra 6:15)

            Therefore, let us all make sure that we fulfil the responsibilities with all our heart and be blessed abundantly. Amen.
