A Year of the Lord of Hosts-12
Psalm 46:7 “The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.”
This year will be the year of the Lord of hosts. When we the say that the Lord of hosts is with us, we mean that we are not alone. We have an army of God right beside us. We the children of God will never be afraid of anything that comes against us. We have the Lord of hosts to battle it out for us this year. The Lord of hosts is giving us the divine strength to conquer all the issues in our lives. We read in I Samuel 4:4 ‘So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth betweenthe cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, werethere with the ark of the covenant of God.’ We see the Lord of hosts dwells among the cherubim and he will guard us by his immense glory. Exodus 25:22 “And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.” Here we see the Lord God speaks amidst of the Cherubims. We can understand that our Lord God wants to walk with his children and to have a close connect with them. Today, let us meditate upon the ones that walked with the Lord God and also learn the blessing they receives out of that experience.
Enoch
Genesis 5:22,27 “And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.”
In the above passage we can see that Enoch walked with the Lord God. The life of Enoch had a close connection with our Lord God. The above passages reveals two important stand points. One, Enoch walked with the Lord God and the other one he stayed with his family and walked with the Lord. This clearly states that when we seek the Lord God as a family, we will be blessed with his divine peace. We the children of God should be very clever on how we are spending out time. We need to divide the time for the Lord God as well as our family. When we make it a point to maintain a balance between our family and our Lord, we will be blessed with an increase. When we spend our time like Enoch, our Lord God will command us peace. Our Lord will lift our standard of living and we will literally experience all the heavenly blessings. Therefore, it is very important that we spend our time in the presence of the Lord. Let us not spend our time on worldly desires.
Noah
Genesis 6:9 “These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.”
Over here we see about the servant of God Noah who walked with the Lord God. One similarity between Noah and Enoch is that they both were living in the times where people committed more sins. The meaning of the name ‘Noah’ would refer to comfort. This we read in Genesis 5:29 ‘And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.’
Just like Enoch was blessed with peace when we walked with God, Noah was blessed with comfort. We read in Genesis 7:1 ‘And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.’ Since Noah led a righteous life, the Lord saved him and his entire family from the destruction. We read in Genesis 7:16 ‘And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.’ The Lord himself shuts the door of the ark. This signifies that the Lord God gave him a divine protection. Just as we read in Hebrews 11:7 ‘By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.’ When we the children of God make it a point to trust on the Lord like Noah, we will be protected.
Interestingly, in Matthews 24:37 ‘But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.’ When we compare the present world with the times of Noah, we can understand that the end is nearing. In Genesis 6:1 , we see about the increase in population. In Genesis 6:5, we see about the alarming dangers in the society. Also we read in Genesis 6:11-13 , we read about the fatal crimes. In Genesis 6:9, we read that righteous people are becoming a minority. All these signs are happening in the world and it is high time we sanctify ourselves for the coming of Christ. In Jude 1:14-15 ‘And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.’ Here we see that Enoch confirms the coming of Christ well in advance. Therefore, it is our responsibility to spread the gospel to as many people as possible. Let us all lead an upright life and prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ. Amen.
