A Year of the Lord of Hosts

Promise verse:

Psalm 46:7 “The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.”

            This year will be the year of the Lord of hosts. When we the say that the Lord of hosts is with us, we mean that we are not alone. We have an army of God right beside us. We the children of God will never be afraid of anything that comes against us. We have the Lord of hosts to battle it out for us this year. The Lord of hosts is giving us the divine strength to conquer all the issues in our lives.

The Lord of Hosts is with us

Psalm 46:7 “The LORD of hosts is with us;

            The Lord of hosts is with us as Emmanuel. The Lord that takes care of all the things that pertains to our lives. We read in Numbers 14:9 ‘Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.’

            When we have the Lord of hosts with us, there is no room for fear. Our Lord will make us prevail and transform us as conquerors in this year. As we see in the above passage, people had different opinions on the Promised Land. They were all filled with fear and unbelief concerning the place. But the Lord of hosts asks them to throw away their fears. We cannot witness the mighty miracles of God with our unbelief. The people who were filled with fear did not enter into the Promised Land. Only the ones that believed in his name were able to inherit Canaan.  

Numbers 13:27 “And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.”

Numbers 13:30-31 “And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.”

            When we read the above passages, we can see that the people of Israel did not believe in the word of God. Though they saw the fruits of the land, they did not believe the land. They saw their problems through their carnal sight which created more problems. In II Corinthians 5:6 ‘Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:’ As rightly recorded in the verse, we should never see our problems in our carnal sight. If we do so, we will never witness the guidance of the Lord of hosts. We the children of God should believe that the Lord of hosts is with us and he will guide us to inherit our blessings.

The God of Jacob is our refuge

Psalm 46:7 “…the God of Jacob is our refuge.”

            We see the Lord of hosts is our one and only refuge in this world. We read in Isaiah 33:15 ‘He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;’ This year the Lord of hosts will give new places for his children. We will be placed in high positions in our lives. The standard of living will be lifted higher in this year. The God of Jacob is going to bless our economy in an abundant way. All the blessings that we were waiting for, will be given to us in this year.

We read in Isaiah 32:15-18 ‘Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest. Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field. And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places’ When we the children of God make it a point to have a strong fellowship with our Lord God, we will be given a divine safety and anointing from the above. The God of hosts is giving us a peace and prosperity. There will be an increase in the fruit of womb and our family. In Proverbs 29:25 ‘The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.’ We the children of God should invest our entire trust in the name of the Lord.

Therefore, let the Lord of hosts be our refuge this year and bless us abundantly in our lives. Amen.
