Trust in God
Introduction
II Chronicles 14:11 "And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee."
Over here we see about the King Asa and how he cried out in the presence of the Lord. We see Asa did not put his trust on the host of armies he had in place. Asa firmly believed in the name of the Lord and he knew only the Lord almighty can help him. In II Chronicles 14:8 'And Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour.' we see Asa had mighty men and a host of army in his side on standby yet he did not put his trust on them. The trust of Asa was on the Lord almighty. As a part of today's meditation, let us what are the trusts that we the children of God should have in our lives.
I Trust God concerning the future
Genesis 48:21 "And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers."
Here in the above passage we can see about the last days of Jacob (Israel). We see Jacob had a revelation concerning himself. He knew that he is on the verge of death and he discloses his revelations to his family about the future. Jacob confirms that his children will reach the Promised Land. The days of Jacob comes to an end and the days of Joseph had begun. In Genesis 50:24 'And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.' Joseph had the same revelation of his father Jacob. The faith that Joseph had was much higher than his father. We read in Hebrews 11:22 'By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.' Even in our lives, we should have the revelation concerning our life and our family. The revelation that we have will guard and guide our generations in the purposed route. We must have a trust on God concerning our future.
II Trust that God will go ahead of us
Judges 4:14-15 "And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the LORD gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him. And the LORD discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet."
Over here we see the Deborah instructs Barak concerning the enemies. The words of the Lord was not revealed to Barak and he was not in a position to believe. Deborah receives the revelations. Barak was advised to move and battle it out. In Judges 4:3 'And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.' we see there were weapons of warfare which scared Barak to move forward. But the Lord God went ahead of Barak and made things possible. We read in Judges 4:15 'And the LORD discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet.' Our Lord God is able to work out mighty miracles for his children. Our Lord gives victory to Barak in Iron chariots.
In Hebrews 11:32 'And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:' We see in the later part Barak was honored and he was included in the list of faith. As recorded in Judges 4:9 'And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.' The Lord gave Barak victory by using Deborah and Rachel. We also read in I Peter 3:7 'Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.' Our God is able to work out miracles by choosing the feeble ones. In Judges 5:21 'The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. O my soul, thou hast trodden down strength.' We see our Lord chooses a place and give them a victory in a super natural way. Therefore, even in our lives we should have a firm trust that our Lord God leads us in all that we do.
III Trust that things will come in place
Nehemiah 2:20 "Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem."
We the children of God should trust that our Lord will perfect all the things that concerns us. In the above passage we see Nehemiah starts building all alone. But the help starts coming over. Nehemiah faced many problems during the course of making, but the hands of the Lord was with him. Nehemiah did not stagger because he invested his trust on the Lord. Even in our lives, it is due time that we put our trusts on him and let him take control. May the Lord God bless us abundantly.
Amen.
