The experience of Pentecost

 Introduction

Acts 2:1 “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.”
In the above passage we can see about the day of Pentecost. The word Pentecost refers to the fiftieth day. The fiftieth day after the resurrection of Jesus Christ is what we call a Pentecost. In Acts 1:4-5 ‘And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.’ We see here when they waited for the experience of Pentecost, they received the holy anointing. The people assembled in one place and was one minded. The divine power of God descended from above and gave them a powerful anointing. Even in our lives, we will also be filled with the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Today, let us mediate upon the experiences of Pentecost.

STRENGTH
Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
Over here we see the Lord God hints them about the experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit. The experience of Pentecost gives us a strength. In Greek, the word Dunamis refers to an immense strength. The power that has the ability to create things. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we will be filled with the strength of the Lord. Our Lord God will give us new strength. We read in II Peter 1:3 ‘According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:’ This verse tells us that the Lord God is giving us his divine strength.
Furthermore we read in Acts 17:29 ‘Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.’ The strength of Pentecostal experience will also give us a clear understanding to know our Lord God. This edifies in the presence of the Lord. This power strengthens us physically as well as spiritually.

WITNESS
Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
Secondly, the Pentecostal experience makes us a witness. We read in Acts 2:14 ‘But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:’ The Holy spirit strengthens Peter and gives him courage. Peter was unfailingly honest and undaunted. Even in our lives, our Lord God is giving us a new courage to face our fears. The hands of the Lord will motivate and guide us to stand on the top of the rock. All our fears will be wiped away. The whole world will be amazed by witnessing the courage and strength that we are blessed with. In Romans 8:16 ‘he Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:’ The Lord himself will stand as a witness for each one of us. We the children of God should be a witness and an example to the people around us. We can surely see the guidance of the Holy Spirit in our lives if we submit ourselves in the presence of the Lord. Amen. God bless you.
