Divine Reign
Introduction
This month is going to be the month of victory. We the children of God will no longer struggle to achieve certain things in our lives. We will experience the state of reigning with the Lord almighty. Our Lord God will make us settle in a position where we succeed in our lives.
I Power of God- Paves the way
II Kings 2:8 ‘And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.’
Over here we see about the life of Elijah the servant of God. Elijah goes through many experiences in his spiritual journey. It was the will of God that Elijah should go to Jericho. When we read II Kings 2:4 ‘And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.’ we can understand that the river Jordan was an obstacle for Elijah to move forward. Elijah was caught in a situation where there was no way as he was facing the river of Jordan in front of him. When Elijah smites the river with his mantle, the power of God creates a new way. This proves when Elijah obeys to the will of God, the hindrances are busted by the power of the Lord. Our Lord God makes a way where there is no way.
In Exodus 14:21 ‘And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.’ Interestingly, Elijah might have given a thought about how Moses faces the Red sea when he was given to a sore situation. This might have motivated him to smite the river using his mantle. Coincidentally, the place where Moses was buried is the same place where Elijah was taken by the Lord God. It is so true that our Lord God has exclusive plans for each and every one of us. We need to understand that our Lord God creates new ways and possibilities where we are stuck up. Our Lord will not give us an alternate way but his divine power will open all the closed ways that are ahead of us. .Let the power of God descend in our lives and pave new ways for us to move forward.
II Power of God- Gives victory
Joshua 6:1 “Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.”
Joshua 6:20 “So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.”
In the first passage we see the city of Jericho was closed for the people of Israel. The divine reigning of the Lord made the Israelites conquer the city. Our Lord gave them immense strength to tumble the walls of Jericho. Let us see the journey of Israelites and what made them succeed the battle of Jericho.
Discipline- Joshua 6:6-7 ‘And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD. And he said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the LORD.’
We see Joshua receives the command from the Lord God and he adheres to his words. The victory of Joshua is bigger than the victory of Moses. This is purely resulted out of his sheer obedience to the word of God. Not only Joshua, even the whole crowd stood by the word of God. They fought the battle one minded and conquered the city. We should make it a point to submit ourselves to the words of the Lord God.
Patience & Faith-Joshua 6:10 ‘And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.’
We see the people of Israel were marching around the city for 6 days. And they were not allowed to utter a word. The Lord wanted them to wait and hold their peace to conquer the city of Jericho. In Proverbs 16:32 ‘He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.’ We the children of God should wait in the presence of the Lord to attain blessing in our lives. In Hebrews 6:11,15 ‘And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.’
In Joshua 6:15-16 “And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.” we can understand how the Lord God was with Joshua and reigned his children of Israel. The presence of the Lord was with them throughout their journey. The hands of the Lord gave them the victory that they wanted and makes them achieve impossible things. Therefore, we the children of Lord should reverence the name of the Lord and obey his commandments to acquire the blessings that are prepared for us. God bless you. Amen.
