DIVINE FAITHFULNESS-II

Introduction

II Corinthians 1:20 "For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."

Our Lord Jesus has given us many promises concerning our future and he had been guiding us by his comforting words all these while. We read in I Thessalonians 5:24 'Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.' Today, all the unfulfilled promises will be fulfilled as the divine faithfulness of God is going to take in charge. As a part of today's mediation, let us discuss the different blessings that his divine faithfulness is going to bless us with.

I Faithful to never abandon

Genesis 28:15 "And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of."

In the above passage we see the Lord God promises his children that he will not forsake them. Further we read in Genesis 28:19 'And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.' We see the Lord himself appears and confirms that he is with them. The Lord had a plan concerning the life of Jacob and he fulfills it. Same way our Lord God has purposed plans concerning our lives. We might not have a plan or a goal to achieve in our lives but we should not forget the fact that our Lord has a plan concerning us. We read in Philippians 1:5-6 'For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:’ We the children of God should firmly believe the fact that our Lord God will complete what he has begun. Our Lord will bring a fruitful end to all the good things that he has started in our lives. This we can read in Romans 8:28 ‘And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.' The Lord who chose us and called us will be faithful and he will never forsake us.

II Faithful in fulfilling visions

Genesis 50:24-25 "And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence."

We all know that our Lord gave many visions to Joseph. We read in the above passage that Joseph instructs where and how his bones should be kept. This is the divine vision that he had concerning himself. In Joshua 24:32 'And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in a hill that pertained to Phinehas his son, which was given him in mount Ephraim.' We see how the vision of Joseph was fulfilled in the verse. Until then all the visions that he saw were fulfilled completely. The last vision of his gets fulfilled at the appointed time. Even in our lives, we might have few visions and promises that we are longing to be fulfilled. In Habakkuk 2:3 'For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.' When we make it a point to wait for the unfulfilled promises and visions in the presence of the Lord, it will surely be fulfilled. Our Lord God is faithful to fulfill all the visions for his children.

III Faithful in concern

Exodus 2:24-25 "And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them."

It is truly interesting when people tell us that they remember us but it means they have forgotten us for a while. A concept of remembrance comes when there is a state of forgetfulness. The above passage tells us how our Lord God is mindful of his children. The people of Israel thought that the Lord has forgotten them as they were in sore bondage for many years. But our Lord sends Moses to rescue his children. Our Lord is someone who never forgets his children and he is so concerned about them. The life of Moses can be divided in three phases. The first phase of 40 years, he was a prince in the land of Egypt. The second phase of 40 years, he was shepherd in the land. The third phase of 40 years, he becomes a leader for the people of Israel. Therefore, our Lord God took quite a long time to prepare and train Moses to execute the ministry of God.

When we read in Exodus 2:22 'And she bare him a son, and he called his name Gershom: for he said, I have been a stranger in a strange land.' We see Moses was once shepherding in a strange land but the Lord chose him and transformed him to be the leader of many. The Lord almighty chose the right person for the plan that he had for his children and he executed things at the right time. The same rod which Moses used as a shepherd became a powerful rod to lead the children of Israel. Even in our lives, we should learn from the life of Moses. When Moses was shepherding, he lived an ordinary life. But his life transformed dynamically to guide and lead the people to the Promised Land. Same way we might be grumbling with the kind of the life that we are living today. Our Lord is faithful enough to have a concern on his children. Our Lord has not forgotten us, he is mindful of us. Our Lord will perfect all that concerns us. Therefore, let us pray to God that his divine faithfulness should perfect our whole life. Amen.
