SUNDAY SERMONS

Christmas Message-2016

Introduction

Matthew 1:21 “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”

In this Christmas season we the children of God should understand that Jesus is born to save us from all our sins. There is no remission of sins without bloodshed. Our savior Jesus has delivered us from all that was once bound us. The new born Jesus is an Immanuel for his children. Our Lord Immanuel will be there on our side at the time of danger. As a part of today’s mediation let us mediate on the changes that the birth of Jesus brought to this world.

Change in Time

Matthew 2:2-3 “Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.”

We all know that Shepherds and kings came to see the new born Jesus when they witnessed supernatural signs. One of the important purposes behind Christ’s birth is to divide the time. Only after the birth of Christ, the history of time was divided as B.C (Before Christ). As the birth of Jesus marked the change in time, same way even in our lives our Lord Jesus will bring in a change. Today, the almighty God is come as a bright and shining light in the lives of his children. What are we struggling at? Running a family or getting a plum job or a stable financial status? Whatever be our problems, today our Lord Jesus is bringing in a new change in our lives. The Lord Jesus is someone who is fully aware of our lives and he will bring in a change at the right time. Our future is in the hands of Lord Jesus and we must not worry about any satanic threats.

Change in Nature

Matthew 2:2 “Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.”

Here we see the star in the east leads the people to the place where Jesus was born. The same star which was created by the Lord God is able to lead them to the creator himself. The birth of Jesus changes the nature. We see people in this world will observe stars and other astrological aspects when a child is born. But when we look at the birth of our Christ, the stars in the sky has guided the people to witness the birth of Jesus. This proves that our Lord Jesus who is a creator has a full control and authority over the nature. Even in our lives, our Lord Jesus will be able to perform any super natural miracle for his children.

Change in Direction

Matthew 2:22 “But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:”

Over here we see the birth of Jesus changes the direction. We see Jesus and mother Mary were leaving to Jerusalem from Egypt. We should understand that their path were filled with fear. But when they were helpless and totally afraid, their situation changes. Same way when we make it a point to submit our lives to the presence of God, our Lord will guide us. No matter how long our journey is, or how scary it is, our Lord will make us reach our destination safely.

Change in Nation

Matthew 2:19-21 “But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life. And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.”

The above passage we read that the Lord God instructs them to move to land of Israel. When we see as to why the Lord asks them to leave the land of Egypt, we should know the meaning of the word Egypt. The word Egypt means black and that refers to witchcrafts and demonic acts. But the word Israel would refer to Jacob who is a servant of the Lord himself. Therefore, the Lord wanted both of them to be in his own land of Israel. The Lord did not want his children to be in the land that was influenced by unclean spirits. We read in Matthew 1:21 ‘And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.’ When they settled in the land of Israel, they were abundantly blessed. The Lord gave them a rest from their restless life. And not only that, there was divine peace that were blessed with. A peace from fear. The birth of Jesus brought a change in nation that brought all the blessings to them. Even in our lives, let the blessing of the new born Jesus be made manifest in our lives. And let the light of Jesus shine brighter and bring in a fruitful change in our lives. Amen.
