SUNDAY SERMONS

THE CALLING

Introduction

I Thessalonians 5:24 “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.”

The passage above is the promise verse for the month of December. Truly speaking, our Lord almighty who has called us is faithful enough to bless us with all his given promises. When we talk about ‘calling’ it normally refers to the calling that pertains to the ministry of God. But we should always know that we the children of God are called according to his purpose. When we make it a point to be faithful to the calling, our Lord will bless us abundantly. Today, as a part of meditation we are going to see the blessings that our Lord almighty gives to the ones that are called.

Divine Strength

I Corinthians 1:24,27 “But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;”

Over the above passage we can see that our Lord Jesus is giving strength to the ones that are called according to his purpose. All the things that we do in life are purely based on the divine strength that the Lord God has bestowed on us. If we are in a successful position today, it is entirely because of the strength that the Lord gave to us. We read in Exodus 1:19 ‘And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.’ This verse records the confession that the midwives gave to the King. The confession they made is very true. The strength that is with the children of God is massive. The divine strength will not only strengthen us but also guides us and guards us in our lives.

Divine Wisdom

I Corinthians 1:24 “But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.”

This passage also tells us about the blessing of divine wisdom that is given to the ones that are called. The divine wisdom which our Lord is giving us will enable us to take the right action at the right time. We the children of God are going to perform certain new things in our lives. As recorded in I Corinthians 1:27 ‘But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty’ Our Lord chose the foolish ones to confound the wise ones in this world. And surely, the world will amaze looking at the wisdom that was given to the children of God.

Hope

Ephesians 1:18 “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,”

Hope, the blessing that is reserved for the children of God who are called according to his purpose. We the children of God should have a firm hope that our Lord has given us a divine life. Many of us are in a desperate situation, a situation where we have lost all our hopes on something or someone. Today, our Lord God is giving us his divine hope which is going to revive all that was lost. On what have we lost our hope on? Family? Children? Job? We the children of God who are called according to his purpose should never be worried. As we know the fact that we are blessed with a divine hope today and that is going to put an end to all our sorrows.

Riches & Glory

Ephesians 1:18 “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,”

Since we the children of God are called according to the purpose we are going to be blessed with riches and glory. We might have a very bad financial condition or we might be struggling with our debts, today our Lord God is going to bless us with his riches and glory. All the things that we needed will be given in abundance. Our financial condition will move to the next level this year. The heavenly riches will be given to the children of God. We should also pray that the Lord should not only bless us with riches but also with his power and favor.

Eyes that acknowledge the glory

Ephesians 1:19 “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,”

Our Lord God is blessing us with the divine eyes that acknowledges the witness his glory. We the children of God who are called according to his purpose will witness the glory and power of the Lord almighty. Therefore, let us all pray to God that we should obtain all the above mentioned blessings in our lives. Amen.
