Glory of the Lord-IX

Introduction

John 11:40 "Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?"

The above passage talks about the miracle performed by our Lord Jesus Christ to his friend Lazarus. Our Lord Jesus reveals his glory. We read in John 11:43-44 'And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.' We see Lazarus was tied fully from top to bottom according to the Jewish custom. When Jesus calls him, Lazarus comes from tomb though he was tied all over his body. This miracle that Jesus performs is simply supernatural. This is how the glory of the Lord was revealed when the words of the Christ comes out. Even in our lives we should pray to witness his divine glory so that it is made manifest in our lives. When Lazarus was raised from the dead, it revealed the divine nature of Jesus Christ. Today as a part of mediation let us continue meditating on the glory of the Lord.

I Miracle of Faith

John 11:39 "Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days."

John 11:40 "Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?"

Here we see when Martha advised Jesus that the place will stink if the stones are rolled away it shows her unbelief. But Jesus reminds her that faith can make all the things possible. Even in our lives, an unbelief can delay and hinder the miracles that God has prepared for us. When we try to use our brains like Martha, we may not witness the miracles of faith. We the children of God should believe in the supernatural power of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Let not our unbelief delay our blessings in our lives. If the stones are not rolled away, Martha might not have witnessed the glory of the Lord. When the words of Jesus reaches out so loud, it wakes up Lazarus from the dead. In our lives, we may have many things that are dead. It could be our education, our resources that we have or we may be financially dead. Today, the Lord tells us that if we start believing in the name of the Lord we shall witness the miracles of faith. The words of God can literally make things happen in our lives only if we start cultivating the habit of Faith.

II Miracles that saves from danger

John 11:39 "Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days."

In the Bible, we can see Jesus raises three different people from the dead. One in Luke 8:49-56, second in Luke 7:11-17 and thirdly we see about Lazarus. When we read all these three incidents, we can clearly understand that when Jesus raised these people from the dead, they were not decomposed. Especially when it comes to Lazarus, Jesus visits his tomb four days after he passed away. When he comes out of the tomb, he was not decomposed. Jesus plans his actions well in advance. Our Lord made sure that the people who are to be raised from the dead are not forsaken. In all the three situations, he never lets his children down and it signifies a perfect planning. This clearly tells us that our Lord Jesus will come into our rescue at any point of time and he is able to do any miracles at the time of danger.

III Miracle of God’s plan which we may not know

John 11:4,6 "When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was."

When Jesus comes to know that his beloved friend Lazarus was passed away, he stayed for two days in the same place where he was. Since Jesus delayed to visit Lazarus, his family members were worried. But Jesus knew that the sickness that Lazarus had was purely based on God’s will. Those people out there does not know the divine plan behind his death. Even in our lives, we may not understand certain things. We might be wondering as to why we have to go through certain circumstances. Today, we should know one thing that our thoughts are different from the thoughts of our Lord Jesus. The death of Lazarus brought the supernatural miracle that was purposed on his life. Same way, no matter how negative the things are in our lives, we should firmly believe that there is a plan and the miracle of the plan will be manifested in our lives.

IV Miracles to them that love God

John 11:43-44 "And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go."

John 11:36 "Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!"

Here, we see Jesus loved Lazarus and that was the main reason why Jesus wept for him. Our Lord does good to them that love him. In John 11:32 'Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.' When Jesus saw Mary cry, he puts an end to her tears. We read in Romans 8:28 'And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.' As we read this passage, we can understand that if we love our Lord Jesus with all our heart, our lives will be filled with goodness and our mourning’s will be turned into gladness. Amen!
