Glory of the Lord-VII
Introduction
John 11:40 "Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?"
The above passage talks about the miracle performed by our Lord Jesus Christ to his friend Lazarus. Our Lord Jesus reveals his glory. In order to reveal his divine glory, he performs his miracle. Even in our lives we should pray to witness his divine glory so that it is made manifest in our lives. When Lazarus was raised from the dead, it revealed the divine nature of Jesus Christ. Today as a part of mediation let us continue meditating on the glory of the Lord.
Miracle in helpless situation
John 9:1 "And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth." John 9:6-7 "When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing."
Over here in this Chapter 9, we see about a man who is blind since birth. In the first verse we see Jesus passed by and he saw this blind man. The plight of this blind man is truly depressing. The situation that he was going through was tough. There was nobody that can help him out for anything that he wanted. But Jesus saw this person and he wanted to change his life. Jesus wanted to put an end to all what he was going through in his life. In John 9:3 'Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.' Here in this verse we see Jesus clarifies the reason why that person is blind since birth. Jesus healed this person so that the works of God should be made manifest in him. The blind man might not be aware of all this and as a matter of fact he dint even know that he will be healed and set free. Same way even in our lives, we think that this might be the end. We might have lost hopes when things get worse. Today, the Lord is here with us to work our miracles in helpless situations to his children. Like how Jesus volunteers himself to help the blind man, same way he is going to pitch in at the right time and help us to move forward.
II Miracle in the midst of controversy
John 9:14 "And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes."
John 9:16 "Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them."
We see the miracles that Jesus performed created confusions and unnecessary controversies. The Sabbath day was observed with all diligence and given high importance by the Jews. Jesus knew that performing miracles on a Sabbath day might trigger a controversy among the Jews but that does not stop him to work out miracles. In John 9:35 'Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?' In this futile life on earth, people might push us away at any time. People who we rely upon might turn out to be ones that backstab us. But we the children of God should always understand that Jesus will never ever push us way. If we share all the problems in prayer, Jesus listens to each one of them and provides a remedy. Our Lord Jesus knows what we are going through and he will perform his miracle at the appointed time.
III Miracle in new way
John 9:6 "When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,"
In the Bible, we see Jesus heals three different blind people in different ways. This man in John chapter 9 was healed using a clay made out of a spittle. This miracle is something that is path breaking. The healing approach that Jesus adopts here is unique. Also we read in Mark 10:50,52 'And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.' Here, we see when the blind man throws away his garments, Jesus was moved by the faith that he had and that made him whole. Further we read in Mark 8:23,25 'And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.' We see when Jesus puts his hands upon his eyes, his sight was restored. Jesus the Lord God heals the blind persons in so many new ways that people cannot think of. Same way even in our lives, we should start expecting that our Lord will do some new miracles for his children. When we start investing upon Jesus, we will surely be witnessing something new.
IV Miracle in Obedience
John 9:6-7 "When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing."
When Jesus asks the blind man to wash his eyes in the pool of Siloam, he immediately obeys his words. The act of obedience gives him the healing that he wanted since birth. Similarly we read in II Kings 5:11,14 'But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.' The moment when people started obeying the words of the Lord almighty, they taste the miracles that they wanted. All the miracles are based on sheer obedience that we have upon the words of God. Today, let us take time to evaluate our obedience to the word of God. Are we adhering to the word of God? If not, let us start to obey to the words of God. Therefore, we the children of God who are entitled to all blessings should make it a point to believe in the name of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. May all the above mediated miracles be made manifest in our lives. Amen!
