Glory of the Lord-VI

Introduction

John 11:40 "Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?"

The above passage talks about the miracle performed by our Lord Jesus Christ to his friend Lazarus. Our Lord Jesus reveals his glory. In order to reveal his divine glory, he performs his miracle. Even in our lives we should pray to witness his divine glory so that it is made manifest in our lives. When Lazarus was raised from the dead, it revealed the divine nature of Jesus Christ. Today as a part of mediation let us continue meditating on the glory of the Lord.

The walking on the water- When we read John 6:19 'So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.' this passage tells us the miracle that Jesus performed where he walked on the water. In John 6:15-17 ‘When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea, And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.’ When Jesus performed many miracles for the people, they wanted him to be the King. But Jesus refuses and walks away. The disciples of Jesus decides to start the ship without him. In verse 17, we see the disciples journeyed to Capernaum. But they should have journeyed with Jesus but they failed to call him over. The reason why they went to Capernaum is recorded in Matthew 8:14-15 'And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.' The disciples wanted to meet Peter's mother-in-law as she was sick and they wanted help her out. In John 6:17-18 'And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them. And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.' When they were journeying the place was dark and they were caught in heavy winds. This situation signifies the plight of people who neglects Jesus in their lives. If we are living a life without Jesus, we will have to face strong winds. Let us mediate the miracles that Jesus performs when the disciples are into this troublesome situation.

Miracle when tired

John 6:19 "So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid."

We need to understand the physical challenge that the disciples went through in that point of time. It is really difficult to sail the ship when they were facing strong winds. Therefore, it is truly back-breaking for them to sail the ship anymore further. Even in our lives, we might have prayed for our family, future and for many aspects. We would be tired when our prayers are unanswered and if it is taking a while. Our situations that we go through will be really painful and it will be literally like tempestuous situations. Our Lord Jesus will come into our rescue when we are tossed with troubles. When disciples were facing that situation, Jesus comes into the rescue at the right time. We the children of God will be given into circumstances, Satan might bring a lot of troubles but we should never forget that Jesus Christ will be our strong hold when we are tired and down. And even at the last moment our Lord Jesus is able to perform miracles for his children.

Miracle over nature

John 6:19 "So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid."

Over here we see our Lord Jesus performs miracles over nature. The Lord that we worship is able to perform any supernatural miracles that we can never imagine. In John 1:3 ‘All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.’ When Jesus walks on the water it directly signifies that he is a Lord who has all authority and power over the nature. We the children of God should believe that our Lord will perform supernatural miracles in our lives. When we are facing any problems in our lives, we should start ruling over them. We should never be intimidated by any form of fatal traps and problems. As we know that our Lord Jesus will perform a miracle over nature for his children.

Miracle amidst of fear

John 6:19-20 "So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid. But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid."

Here we see Jesus thought that they will recognize him but they failed. We also read in Matthew 14:26 'And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.' Jesus told his disciples not to be afraid of this temporal trouble that they were experiencing. Even in our lives, this is exactly what our Lord Jesus wants to convey to his children. Our Lord God is going to change all sorts of fears that surrounds us. We will no longer be scared of anything in our lives. The Lord almighty commands us a peace and courage amidst of all our fears.

Miracle amidst of God’s will

John 6:21 "Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went."

Interestingly, the moment after the disciples realize that they were wrong, the wind remained calm. The decision that the disciples took initially was all wrong and it made them travel in a wrong direction that caused all pains. Their plans were not based on the will of God and that might have cost their lives. Same way when the decisions that we take are influenced by our self-will, it will lead us into a terrible fall. When we the children of God make our every single decisions with the divine will of God, we will witness the miracle. Therefore, let us keep God first in whatsoever we do in our lives and that is the best way to experience all the miracles that God has reserved for us. Amen.
