Glory of the Lord-V
Introduction
John 11:40 "Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?"
The above passage talks about the miracle performed by our Lord Jesus Christ to his friend Lazarus. Our Lord Jesus reveals his glory. In order to reveal his divine glory, he performs his miracle. Even in our lives we should pray to witness his divine glory so that it is made manifest in our lives. When Lazarus was raised from the dead, it revealed the divine nature of Jesus Christ. Today as a part of mediation let us continue meditating on the glory of the Lord.
I Miracle from an individual
John 6:10-11 "And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would."
Over here we see the miracle that Jesus performs for his children. We see Jesus fed the multitude of people who were gathered there. When we read in John 6:5-6 'When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.' Jesus knew that the people who were gathered there must be hungry. Our Lord God knows the needs of his children. We see the miracle that Jesus performed is based on a need of an individual. In John 6:7 ‘Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.’ This passage tells us how Philip calculated the sufficiency of the breads and fishes to feed all the people gathered with Jesus. The calculation of a man is vain when compared to the miracles that Jesus intends to perform for his children. In II Kings 7:2 ‘Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.’ When the faith that we have on Jesus increase that would eventually lead us into the path of a blessed future. The words that we the children of God speak should reveal the faith that we invest on our Lord God.
We read in John 6:8-9 'One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him, There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?' We see Andrew, a disciple of Jesus informs Jesus about a lad who has five barley loaves and two small fishes. The disbelief of Philip was passed on to Andrew as he did not believe that the five loaves of bread and two small fishes will suffice to feed the whole multitude. But in the end, we see Jesus performed a mighty miracle which fed the whole crowd with the very small source that the lad had. Even in our lives, Our Lord Jesus will meet individualistic needs for his children and bless them abundantly.
II Miracle as much as we want
John 6:11 "And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would."
We see Jesus blessed the bread and fishes before passing those to the crowd. In John 6:7 'Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.' This passage tells us clearly about the situation where they were facing a lack. But Jesus changes the entire scenario and blesses the whole crowd with abundance. In John 6:12 ‘When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.' The miracle was so abundant that they were able to gather the fragments that remained. The reason why Jesus insisted that the remains should be gathered is that he wanted to his children to cultivate the habit of saving. Even we the children of God should learn how to save up what God has blessed us with.
III Miracle Glorifies Jesus
John 6:14 "Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world."
Behind all the miracles that Jesus performed lies an absolute cause and a purpose. When the people witnessed all his miracles they glorified his name. This is the impact created by his miracles which glorified his name. Even in our lives, Jesus is ready to perform such miracles which would make our lives blessed abundantly. Therefore, let us all pray to God that he blesses us with the above mediated miracles in our lives. Amen!
