Glory of the Lord-III
Introduction
John 11:40 "Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?"
The above passage talks about the miracle performed by our Lord Jesus Christ to his friend Lazarus. Our Lord Jesus reveals his glory. In order to reveal his divine glory, he performs his miracle. Even in our lives we should pray to witness his divine glory so that it is made manifest in our lives. When Lazarus was raised from the dead, it revealed the divine nature of Jesus Christ. Today as a part of mediation let us continue meditating on the glory of the Lord.
Miracle from distance
John 4:46 "So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum."
The above passage tells us about the miracle that Jesus performed for the noble man’s son. We see soon after the noble man gets to know that Jesus had come, he travels to Capernaum. In John 4:47 ‘When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.’ Over here, we see the noble man requests Jesus to come meet his son in order to heal his sickness. But the noble man did not know that Jesus is able to perform miracle at a distance. We read in John 4:50 ‘Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.’ When we read this passage, Jesus asks the noble man to go his way as his son was healed the very moment. Even in our lives, we the children of Lord tend to lose our faith. We should not forget the fact that Jesus is able to perform miracles at any place. When we read John 11:21 ‘Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.’ We can understand even Martha has similar reaction like the noble man. When we the children of God are given into circumstances, we must not lose our faith. The Lord God is faithful enough to perform any miracle at a distance.
Miracle in disappointment
John 4:47 "When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death."
John 4:48 "Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe."
When the noble man requests Jesus to come to his place, he couldn’t persuade Jesus. The noble man was disappointed as Jesus did not come to his place. In verse 49 we read ‘The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.’ The noble man did not know that Jesus started to perform miracles when he was speaking to him. Even we the children of God might have faced a lot of failures and disappointments in our lives. Our Lord Jesus is performing miracles amidst of our sore failures and disappointments. The verses 47 & 48 indicates a disappointment and in verse 50 ‘Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.’ Our Lord we worship is faithful to perform miracles in disappointment.
Also we read in II Kings 5:11,14 ‘But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.’ When Naaman obeys the word of God, he witnesses the mighty miracle. Same way even in our lives, we should never lose hope at the time of disappointments. We should pray to our Lord God that we should receive a miracle in disappointment.
Miracle in the word
John 4:50 "Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way."
We see the noble man was obedient to the word of God. He knew that Jesus meant what he said. He trusted the word of God and he believed it would heal his son. In John 4:52 ‘Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.’ When the noble man enquires, he comes to know that his son was healed the very same hour Jesus spoke to him. When the noble man believed in the word of God, the word healed his son. We read in Romans 10:17 ‘So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.’ As recorded in this verse, the noble man trusted the word of God just by hearing.
As recorded in Romans 10:17 ‘Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.’ May the divine hope and power of God fill us with Joy and peace to all his children. Henceforth, when we hear the word of God we should believe that the word will change our lives. Therefore, we the children of God should pray earnestly that we should receive all the above dealt miracles so that the glory of God gets manifested in our lives. Amen.
