GIDEON
The following are the qualities of Gideon :
1. Gideon, the Mighty Man : Judges 6:12
The Angel of the Lord came down and called Gideon, a "mighty man". How was Gideon, an ordinary farmer became a mighty man? What changed him? There is only one answer for the the above questions. The answer is "the vision". The vision of Gideon is explained vividly in this chapter. Thus, a vision has the power to change an ordinary man into a mighty man. We should also have a vision about our future, which will shower the heavenly blessings upon us.
2. Gideon, who received the Lord's strength : Judges 6:13, 14
The Lord has transformed Gideon (an ordinary man), into a mighty man but he did not realize it. Instead of praising God, he always dirged for the worst experiences he had in his life. "Go in this thy might.......... Have I not sent thee?", was the reply he recieved from the heaven. Thus, the Lord strengthens Gideon. He will also strengthen us and hence nothing will overcome us.
3. Gideon, who recieved the favour of the Lord : Judges 6:17, 18, 21
Gideon demands the Lord to show a sign for him to prove that He showers His Grace upon him. The Lord shows a sign which proved him that the Lord will always shower His Grace upon Gideon. Similarly, the Lord will show many signs in our lives in order to prove that He will shower His Grace upon us.
4. Gideon, who worshipped the Lord : Judges 6:23, 24
Gideon fears death but the Lord says, "Peace Be Unto You. Fear Not.". When Gideon heard this verse, he immediatly worshipped the Lord by building an altar."Jehovah Shalom" was the name given to that place by Gideon. "Shalom" means Peace. Thus we can say that he experienced the joy of Peace in his heart. This act of Gideon brought a great blessings in his life. The Lord reveals the secret about his ministries. Similarly, when we worship the Lord we will experience the joy of peace in our hearts.
5. Gideon, the Winner : Judges 7:9
The Lord teaches him a stratergy through which he gains victory. If we want the Lord to teach us the new stratergies in our lives to get the fruit of victory, we should obey the vision showed by the Lord and we should worship Him like Gideon. Only then we can become the winners in our lives
