Father's Honour-3
Father’s Honour-3
Introduction:
John 12:26 “If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”
This happens to be the promise verse of the month of June, we clearly see God honours those who minister unto him. Even a small thing that we do as a ministry counts big. Our Lord God gives lofty rewards to us when we minister towards his name faithfully. When talking about the rewards that God gives, all the rewards are not the same, they are distinctive. It varies from person to person depending upon various parameters.
The second part of the verse reveals that God expects us to be with him and also to follow him wherever he heads to. This acts as an important parameter, based on which our Lord God rewards us. Today, we are going to meditate upon the important aspects that need to be present in us, which will allow us to walk along with God to acquire his divine honour.
I.PRAYER:
Matthew 26:38 “Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.”
Matthew 26:40: “And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What could ye not watch with me one hour?”
What does Jesus Christ expect from his disciples? He simply wanted them to stay awake to pray with him for some time instead of sleeping. As we people expect our spouse, children to spend time with us at home, same way Jesus wanted them to be with him in prayer. We see Prayer is the hidden factor in this situation. Prayer acts as a predominant aspect which gives us a close relationship with our Lord Jesus. Today, God expects you and me to start spending time with him in prayer.
Some people spend their ample amount of time in many unwanted activities. But they find so hard to stretch their prayer for an hour. We can quite easily pray for an hour by following the process stated below:
Step1: Read the word
Step2: Petition
Step3: Intercession
Step4: Pray for the world
Step5: Thanksgiving
Step6: Singing
Step7: Meditate
Step8: Listen
Step9: Praise
Step10: Waiting
Step11: Confession
If we spend just five minutes on each step, we can pray for an hour easily. We have to understand that our Lord knows our prayer request and supplications before we could pray, but God wants us to spend our time with him through prayer. Therefore, if we need God’s honour, we must make it a point to spend time with God in prayer daily.
II. FELLOWSHIP
Revelation 3:20,21 “ Behold I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him and he with me. To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.”
Dear beloved in Christ, If we want to walk along with God to get his honour, first and foremost we should maintain a close Fellowship with Our Lord God. The above stated verses clearly symbolises that God wants to come into our house as a permanent guest to dine with us. We should not treat our Lord Jesus as an unseen guest, but instead as a guest for the rest of our lives. God does not want him to be treated as an temporary guest, he wants to be a permanent guest who shares a rapport with us forever.
A close fellowship with God ensures that we are walking along with God in a right track. All we need to do is to open the door by hearing the voice of the Holy God. The experience of dining with God acts as a perfect place to converse with God freely and share our thoughts with him. Without a close fellowship, it is impossible to walk along with God as his servant. Therefore, we have to renew our fellowship with God to get more closer and deeper.
III. HOLINESS
Revelation 3:4 “Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.”
The above verse is the statement of God towards the people who belong to the church of Sardis. Here, God addresses a few people who have not soiled their garments, and who are dressed in white and counted worthy. Garments/Clothes here refer to our life whereas dressed in white refers to the experience of leading a Holy life. For instance, if we are wearing full white attire, we will be extra cautious about the dusts and stains found on the places that we are exposed to. Same way, we are expected to lead a sacred life and we ought to be cautious to all sorts of defiles and dusts.
We should never give a chance to soil or defile our Holy attire at any point of time. We need to ask God to give his grace to lead a life of holiness which will protect ourselves from all these dangerous dusts of the world.
If a person walks along with God, he is not only a Man of Prayer and Fellowship but also a man who leads a Holy life. Let our God sanctify and cleanse our life from all the blot of defiles in the world.
IV. PREPARATION
Matthew 28:10 “Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.”
The Land of Galilee refers to a place of Preparation. The day of the Lord is not any longer, as we have to be found prepared to witness his coming. When we are leading a sacred life having a good fellowship with God, we are given the experience of Preparation. There might arise many problems and diversions in our Preparations but we need to be alert and ready for the coming of the Lord.
Our past failures and confusions will never knock us down again if we are found prepared for the Lord’s coming. We should not prepare ourselves just for name sake, it is highly necessary that as Christians we need to be prepared wholeheartedly. Our Lord God expects us to increase our preparations day by day. The time when Our Lord Jesus comes with full Glory and Majesty, we should fly along with him by our relentless preparations. Amen. God Bless You.
