THE DAY OF PENTECOST (19-May-2013)

THE DAY OF PENTECOST

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 2:1-4 (NKJV)

When we read about the Day of Pentecost in the Bible, it does not refer to the division of church but to a festival observed by the Jewish people. This day acted as a symbol for many fruitful beginnings. We see God’s Power descended on that day which gave rise for the foundation of many churches and that day brought in a big change in every aspect of spirituality. Let us discuss those changes that were brought by the Day of Pentecost and as we discuss them, God is going to give us all those special experiences in this day of Pentecost too.

1.  LIFE FILLED WITH HOLY SPIRIT

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:38 (NKJV)

In this passage, Peter reveals the secret to receive the gift of Holy Spirit. Today we need to live a life being filled with the Holy Ghost.  If we do so, the Holy Spirit will be there with us to lead and guide us. We will not be left isolated at times of danger.

Our life becomes so secure when we are found under the control of Holy Spirit. No evil spells will prosper against us when Holy Spirit is beside us.  Do not fear for dirty spirits and enchantments as we lead a life with the fullness of Holy Spirit. As people’s life was changed at the day of Pentecost, same way even today your life is going to get transformed and changed by the power of Holy Spirit.

2. LIFE OF DIFFERENCE

And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”

 Acts 2:40 (NKJV)

In the earlier point, we saw Holy Spirit came down and the people got baptized, so what happens next? A differentiation! The Holy Spirit creates a difference with the people. There is a difference noticed between the life of worldly people and the people who are anointed by the Holy Ghost.

It is quite hard to lead a life different  from others, but that is possible with the help of Holy Ghost. Today we need to ask God for his Grace to lead a different life when compared to others.

3.  LIFE OF SUBMISSION

Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

Acts 2:41(NKJV)

There is one important thing in this passage which says, People accepted God’s words happily. This signifies an experience of submission. People did not stand against the Word of God but instead they paid heed to His words.

Whatever be the Word of God concerning us, we need to accept it at the moment we hear it. We should be ready to do whatever God instructs us, this submission makes God to start working out miracles in our life. We should not pay heed to worldly commands, instead we need to lend our ears to God’s instructions. The life of submission can also be tagged with the Life of Obedience. Adhering to God’s Words is the stepping stones of success in life. Therefore it is high time to submit ourselves to God and not to the world.

4.  LIFE OF PRAYER

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of

bread, and in prayers.

 Acts 2:42 (NKJV)

This passage signifies that the Day of Pentecost gave them the habit of praying fervently. We Christians should not neglect prayer, if we do so our internal spiritual man will become feeble. Prayer and Communion are the two most important activities that we must never forego and forget.

Are we praying personally? Are we doing Family Prayer?, Just think it over! If we have the habit of praying individually and as a family, no evil shall knock our doors. We must decide to pray personally as well as a family together. Beloved, we see Prayer acts as a key to all sort of heavenly blessings. Therefore, submit yourself in Prayer, your life will be transformed and blessed forever.

5. LIFE OF VICTORY

“Praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church[a] daily those who were being saved.”

Acts 2:47

We see here the people has got a favor in the society that they are living. This can be referred to a Life of Victory. When people started praying, they caught people’s attention and they even gained favor in the sight of people.

In this world, we also need favor of the people along with the Favor of God. This favor that we gain from the people will make us to lead a victorious life. Today the Holy Ghost is commanding victory to all your past failures, efforts and falls. The holy Spirit is going to make us lead a life of victory.

Henceforth, our conversations, ministry, behavior, gait will undergo a drastic change as the Holy Ghost transforms and takes control over our life. May God Bless You! Amen.
