DUNIMIS-VI (12-May-2013)

INTRODUCTION:

“But He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

II Corinthians 12:4

The word strength is recorded as DUNAMIS in Hebrews.  Dunamis signifies a massive Power of God which transfigures our lives. Today, we are going to meditate upon the topic Dunamis and how it helps us and strengthens us to beat all odds in life.

There are many fake things on Earth for which people get enticed easily and deceived. It might look authentic, but it distracts us from God’s plan. Today Dunamis is going to give us the power to discern such fake spirits.

I.                POWER THAT GIVES THE SPIRIT OF BOLDNESS

“For God did  not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me on suffering for the gospel, by the power of god,”

II Timothy 1:7,8

By reading the above­ verses, we should have faith that God has given Power to prevail all the fears. Satan might try to bully us, or at times he might bloat up a small issue to bring unwanted panics upon us. If the work of Satan is to bully us, our Lord’s work is to strengthen us. From now on, Satan cannot touch us by his demonic fears, as God has given us His Power to overcome. Just look at your problem and say ‘ I have Dunamis within me and nothing can touch me!’

There are people who get scared for every simple thing.  They have to believe in God’s Power and put down all unnecessary worries. Today God gives you a Mighty Spirit to overcome all your fears in life. God says, ‘Why are you worried? When I am with you?, Focus on your work and family. I will take care of the rest. Believe in God’s Power and overcome it by God’s Power. May God give us grace to get to get his Power which gives us courage.

II. POWER THAT PROTECTS AS A FORTRESS

”who through faith are shielded by god’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time”|

I Peter 1:5

What does the Power of God does here? It reveals that God protects us like unto a fortress. We can also compare the protection of God to the protection given by military forces. In this world, VIP’s and Diplomats will be guarded by security, which is only for a limited period of time till their position lasts. But we the Children of God will have an eternal protection till we inherit the liberties of heaven.

Our God also protects us from the dangers of the nature. God says, ‘Do not fear for anything as my protection surrounds you like a fort. The same God who protected the house of Job, will also protect your house as well. We must say, ‘I stay in a secured place of God’. The hosts of God are with us to protect us 24x7. May the Lord protect us and keep us safe and secure.

III. POWER THAT MAKES US AS EXAMPLES

“For we know , brothers loved by god, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the holy spirit and with deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake… …..and so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and  Achaia.”

I Thessalonians 1:4-7

When God’s  power descends upon us,  no matter how much more problems and distress we have, the Power gives us Grace to be happy always. We see not only God’s Power but also His powerful words were so mighty that it works many amazing things for us. Here the Power of God makes us as an example to all the people who surround us. How can we be happy amidst of all the problems? It is possible only when we posses the Power of God.

Henceforth the Power of God is going to make us to lead a life which people look forward to.

IV. POWER THAT MAKES US WORTHY OF CALLING

“For we know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of god, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.”

II Thessalonians 1: 11,12

What for the Power of God is connected here? It is present to fulfill the Sprit of Faith. Here the Power of God makes us worthy of being called.  Some people who are chosen by God will be slackened or they might be irresponsible towards the calling of God. They will be engaged in other works instead of doing God’s work. Today the Power of God makes us worthy of calling. It prepares us for the purpose of God. At times, we cannot figure out why certain things are happening in such way in your life. The reason is all such events are the preparation by God to make you worthy. So believe in God’s calling and let his Power do the rest.

V. POWER THAT MAKES US PERFECT

“The son is the radiance of god’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.  After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.”

Hebrews 1:3

What is the role of powerful word (Dunamis) here? It prepares us to be seated in the right hand of Jesus. The Power of God makes us whole for His plans. As Jesus sat at the right hand of God, He also wants us to be seated at his right.

God has kept a position for us.  We cannot inherit it being a normal person but we need to be made whole. We need to ask God to make us whole; we have to undergo the process the wholeness. The Power of God not only does signs and wonders but also prepares us to make us whole. May God lead us and guide us. Amen!
