 DUNAMIS – POWER OF GOD

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 Cor 12:9

The word “Strength” in Greek terminology refers to Dunamis. This word Dunamis has got several meanings, but today we are taking it as the Power of God. God’s power is mightiest weapon than any other deadliest weapon on earth.

When does this Power of God get unleashed? It get unleashed when we are down with infirmities/weakness. God’s power is always with us and it comes into swift rescue when we call upon God during the time of distress or sickness. People in the world look for energy drinks to refresh and renew their strength, but these ways are only temporary. The best energy drink for us as Christians is use of this Dunamis. The word Dunamis appears 71 times in the Bible. Today we are going to meditate some important places in the Bible, where Dunamis comes into picture and how it works.

POWER IN WORD OF GOD

And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was  present to heal them.

Luke 5:17

While reading this passage we should ponder over in what situation the Power of God gets revealed. It was revealed when Jesus was teaching to people. And what for was it revealed? It was revealed to heal the sick. This is the immense power of the word of God. God’s power is so powerful that the very word from Jesus’ mouth heals the sick people. In this situation, Jesus casually preaches the doctrine and as a result, the power of God heals the sick. Today we should pay heed to God’s Word. When we hear God’s Word in the church, we ought to be very attentive and never be slackened. We should not despise the power of God. When you believe that “Dunamis” will help you through the word of God, you will not experience any weakness. There is no miracle that God’s Word cannot perform. Believe in the Word of God and it will deliver you.

POWER WHICH ENABLES US TO OVERCOME SATAN’S POWER

Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

Luke 9:1

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Luke 10:19

We see the word Dunamis is closely associated in these two verses. God’s power gives us an authority to sweep devil out of our lives. In this verse we can notice that he calls his disciples and hands over Dunamis to them. Likewise even to us he has given the power to overcome the works of Satan. Whatever be the curse devised by Satan we should never get trembled and give up, but instead we should be bold and undaunted towards all those demonic traps. We ourselves have to curse and command the curses in our life. We should have a strong belief that the Power of God (Dunamis) will enable us to stand against all the satanic spells. There is no witchcraft or divination against the children of God. We shall never be staggered by any such evil plans. May the Lord give you the divine powerful authority to resist the works of Satan.

Luke 10:18 Just as we read in this verse this will happen as the result of God’s power. Today as we pray and use God’s power, surely we will destroy devil’s kingdom down.

POWER WHICH MAKES US AS WITNESS

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 1:8

Why God is giving this power to them? It is because he wants them to be as a witness to the world. Not many will get an opportunity to stand as witnesses. Being a testimony to God is an eternal thing.

Let us examine and ask ourselves what kind of testimony people give about us. How is our honesty and integrity? Are we trustworthy? How are we found at home or in the society?

First and the foremost one we should have good testimony at home. Husband and wife should be in a position to share nice testimonies about each other. Make a resolution today that you will earn a good testimony at home and at your locality. This quality is the basic thing for each one of us. Today God’s power Dunamis is going to make you a good witness. It is going to make you earn a good testimony wherever you go and to whomsoever you talk with. God’s power is a supernatural power and it will give you perfect healing.

POWER WHICH LIFTS OUR HEAD

And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.

Luke 21:27,28

These are the last days where we are going to witness the coming of the Son of God. Almost all the signs and wonders recorded in the Bible are fulfilled. In verse 28 as we could see we shall lift our head as the redemption is nigh at hand. Lifting up one’s head signifies that all our worries will be over and we will be in the position to lift our heads up. There are circumstances in your life where you might be ashamed and experienced disgrace. But this is what the Lord says, “My power is going to descend upon you and it is going to lift your heads up”. There are times where you were unable to face anyone but do not worry God’s power is changing your situations and it will lift your head up.

May God give you all these blessings and enable you to experience God’s power Dunamis in your life.
