GOOD FRIDAY EVENING MESSAGE

THE MINISTRY OF JESUS AFTER HIS DEATH
 
Who can ever do ministry after their death?
If our death is in the Lord there would be brightness in our face. For those who die without Christ would have the fear of death in their face. But those who die in the Lord will boldly face death because they have the eternal hope that once they close their eyes here on earth will open it before Jesus and therefore their face will shine forth brightly.
Where ever Jesus went he did ministry. Whether he sat or stood he was ministering. Whatever he did it was a ministry for God.
1. COME OUT OPENLY
And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
John 19:38
Bible gives a title for this disciple Joseph. He was a rich man and famous in the society. But he was a secret follower of Jesus. There are also people like unto him secretly unto him following Jesus.
This Joseph had many barriers in the society that he could not reveal himself as the disciple of Jesus. But after the death of Jesus he became an open follows of Jesus. God gave this boldness to him. Many like unto him or unable to reveal to the world that they are followers of Jesus. They follow Jesus secretly. If you believe that Jesus that died for you and me reveal openly that you are disable.
Joseph of Arimathen could have told that he was the disciple of Jesus but he didn’t have that boldness. But the death of Jesus changed him.
God is going to openly glorify and magnify the lives of people like unto him. When they boldly come out, you might be wondering many blessings have not come but God will give them and make world know that he is with us.
Till now it was only between God and us but he is going to make the eyes of the world see it specially.
God made Joshua a leader before all his Israel. The fear of Joshua caught people likewise it is going to be for us. Because you have come into the time of God exalting us.
Are you asking how long is this situation going to be? God will change them. Joseph who was secret till that time God magnified him specially exalting him.
Even on the mount of transfiguration God glorified Jesus even so the Lord will exalt us.
2. BE COURAGEOUS
Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.
Mark 15:43
Joseph of Arimathen was waiting for the coming of the Lord. He was not willing to reveal himself boldly before that but after the death of Jesus he came out daringly.
Concerning what he was afraid? He was afraid of the government and the people and rulers but God gave him courage that he went and asked for the body of Jesus to be taken.
God is changing us to be a bold person. Some people testify. Before salvation there was fear in their voice but after salvation there was some courage in their voice. We should not be fear anything, Come what may. The maximum is only death – after death it is life in Heaven. In places where we need to ask things humbly we should do so.
God will give us the courage to face things in this world like unto Joseph. He also gives courage to face the world. For whatever things we are afraid of He will give courage to face the same.
3. WILLINGNESS TO GIVE
And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
Luke 23:53
Joseph he brought down the body of Jesus from the cross. I don’t think there was any one to take the body of Jesus. No disciple was with him to help him do the work. There were women along with Jesus following.
They kept Jesus in the tomb which was cut out of a rock. It was the tomb of Joseph prepared for himself. But he willing gave it unto Jesus. Till today the entire world is talking about the generosity of Joseph where he gave his own tomb unto Jesus.
When we also likewise sow unto Jesus we will definitely reap a greater blessing. When we give even unto those who have no connectivity with us in the name of Jesus, He will bless us abundantly. He will never leave us with lacking or shortfall.
May the Lord make us a people of giving unto Him.
When we talk about giving Jesus saw the widow sowing / giving all that she had while others gave from only what they had.
4. CARRY OUT MINISTRY
And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
John 19:39
We see over here about Nicodemus who secretly doing things come out boldly.
Whoever was hiding them or did things secretly began to come out openly.
The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
John 3:2
Nicodemus came to Jesus openly. He was a blessed man because he spent more time with Jesus and got His personal counseling. In vs.10 being a preacher he did not know certain things which Jesus expounded to him. After the death of Jesus Nicodemus came
And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
John 7:50, 51
We can see over here Nicodemus testifying for Jesus. That same Nicodemus began doing the ministry of Jesus as we read in chap 19.
The death of Jesus made people to come out openly, be courageous, give willing unto him and do ministry for him.
