CHARACTERISTICS OF A BLESSED MAN - August 5th, 2012

We meditated the introductory part of the message in the Promise of this month.  Today we will get into the real part of the message.

Psalm 84:6, 7 - As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools.  They go from strength to strength; each one appears before God in Zion.

According to this verse, the man who gets strengthened in God is called Blessed.  So when your strength is weak just look on God to lead a blessed life in this world.  When He becomes our strength, He will give us necessary Grace to lead a victorious life and when we seek His strength He will surely be our strength at all times.  We will now see the situations wherein we get Strength from God and the Blessings we get by His Strength, in other words the characteristics of a Blessed man.

1.            PATH of God.

Psalm 84:6 - As they pass through the Valley of Baca

When our Spiritual strength is lost, we need to cry unto our Lord.  He desires that we need to be strengthened in Him at all times.

The Valley of Baca is the Valley of weeping in some versions of the Bible.  This situation of weeping did not stop these persons.  Also the contrary situations in their lives did not hinder them from getting strength from God.  They faced so many oppositions and yet they passed them all and crossed them easily with the Strength of God.

Swimming in the stream is easier since we go along with the water current but swimming against the water current is difficult.  One needs to swim hard to go against the current.  In the same way to cross our trials and temptations on our own is difficult but with the Strength of God it is much easier to pass through.

God has called us to swim against all our problems, be it financial crisis or sickness and so on since He is the one who gives us the necessary Strength.  Perhaps you might be passing through the valley of weeping with sickness, financial crisis, problem with children, or any unsolvable problem.  The problems might differ from one person to another.  But God says that He is giving you necessary strength to swim against them now.

Prayer:  Lord, I do not have the necessary strength to pass through the problems I face.  Kindly give me your strength and lead me.  Thank you.

2.            PLEASURE of God.

Psalm 84:6 - they make it a spring.

After passing through the valley of weeping with the strength of God there is a great pleasure left behind by God in order to enjoy.  God gives joy into people’s life at the right time.  He will give necessary Grace to enjoy the life too.

Our faces should never be sad but bright all the time because it shows that our Jesus lives.  It is an undeniable fact that we all have trials and tribulations but we get strengthened in God which keeps us move forward with a joyous heart and mind.  God wants to give pleasure to you.  He will take care of everything.  You need to just cast all your burdens on Him.

Prayer:  Dear Lord, even though I face many trials in my life, I know that you have kept springs of pleasure behind them.  I trust and believe that You will give me pleasure and joyous life.  Thank you.

3.            PROVISION of God.

Psalm 84:6 - The rain also covers it with pools.

The man who gets strengthened in God and enjoyed the springs is now entering into the experience of his pools getting filled with the autumn rains.

When a person looks upon God, He makes prosperity in his territory.  Showers of blessings of God will be poured upon his family and his pool will be filled.  God will fill his purses, bank balances, and lockers etc.  When we have the experience of being strengthened in the God, He will determine to bless our families and our nation too.

Prayer:  Lord, please make showers of blessings to pour on my family as we are getting strengthened in You day by day amidst our trials and temptations.  Thank you.

4.            POWER of God.

Psalm 84:7- They go from strength to strength

When you have the above-said experience of getting showers of blessings you need to start seeking the Power of God to grow in those blessings.  We might have many talents or wisdom according to men but we need to get the necessary strength and Power from God to shine in this world.

Perhaps you might be facing exams or going to start a new project and vice versa.  First pray to God, receive His power and then proceed.  What great mistake men do is that they forget God at this crucial period of time.  If you are a doctor, judge, or whichever high position you may be in pray to God and receive His power before you start your day.  Even when you send your children to schools via public or private transports keep your hand on their heads and pray so that God’ Power descend on them to go safely.

Pray to God to make you burn like a shining light.  When we receive the Power of God we will be witnesses even unto the end of the world as Jesus told his disciples.

Prayer:  Dear Lord, please provide me with your Power to move on in this world.  Thank You.

5.            PRESENCE of God.

Psalm 84:7 - each one appears before God in Zion.

Once we have received the power of God, He will enable us to make us see Him in Heaven at one point of time.  To be in the presence of God is the very important thing in this world.  We have born in this world to fly to Heaven and be with the presence of God eternally.  We are not like airplanes which fly horizontally but like rockets which fly up vertically straight to Heaven.

There will be praising and worshipping 24x7 in Heaven but no sermons.  God will make the Earth like Heaven when we praise and worship Him always till we leave it.  Both the Earth and the Heaven will be the same for us because of the Glory of God.

Prayer:  Lord, I will praise and worship you always.  Please make me enter Heaven and be in Your presence eternally.  Thank You.
