GOD'S POWER - PART I (June 3rd, 2012)

The topic for today's meditation is God's Mighty Power.  God’s power is going to do things easily which you could not do so far since the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.  Confess this Word of God everyday with boldness so that satan might be ashamed.  We might be assumed as an empty vessel by others but our God will descend in this vessel in order to reveal His mighty acts.  Our family might be small and disrespected by others but when God is in the midst of us many will hear about us.  When our God is with us, He will take care of everything.  If you believe this God’s power will descend to do mighty things for you.

1.            One - Thousand; Two - Ten Thousand

Deuteronomy 32:30 - How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the Lord had given them up?

When two people come together with a single mind, God will do a miracle by descending His power from above amidst them.  God says that He will do mighty things through you when two of you either husband and wife or children gather and pray.  This is not because of man’s power.  God’s power will start from an empty or void life.  It is created from nothing.  From nothing, God will make you see many things.  Number is not a constraint for God and He will use you mightily to save many people.

Prayer:  Lord, please let your power descend in my life and make me see greater blessings.  Thank You.

2.            Three Hundred People – Whole Army.

Judges 7:2, 8, 21 - The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel would boast against me, ‘My own strength has saved me.’

So Gideon sent the rest of the Israelites home but kept the three hundred, who took over the provisions and trumpets of the others.  Now the camp of Midian lay below him in the valley.

While each man held his position around the camp, all the Midianites ran, crying out as they fled.

God asked Gideon to cut short the number of people to go for the battle.  Otherwise people will boast against God saying the army was huge and that is the reason why they were able to gain victory.  So God gave a test and selected just 300 people to go for the battle.

Normally when people go for a battle they will carry swords, spears, shield etc., but here God asked the 300 men to take trumpets and provisions alone and to stand still.  Just like them God is expecting you and I to stand still and follow His instructions and expect for His blessings.

Generally, we have seen school-going children carrying snacks to eat during the interval.  But here God asked the army men to carry provisions.  He wanted His people to enjoy even if they go for a battle while He Himself will take care of the enemy.  Our God is a good God who will never allow us to fight in the battle.  His Power will give us great victory.  The Midianites thought there were a great army of Israelites coming against them.  But God blindfolded the Midianites to think so and made them run with a loud cry.  God, in order for His Will to be accomplished, will do anything for you.  He will also blindfold the eyes of your opponents.

Prayer:  Lord, please do things for me which I could not do.  I am expecting supernatural things from you which you alone can do.  Thank You.

3.            Two People – Great Army

I Samuel 14:6 - Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, “Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised men. Perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few. ”

Jonathan and his armor-bearer went to Philistine’s camp without anyone’s notice.  They were expecting God’s deeds without actually knowing what God would do to them.  They went with faith not considering the huge army.  They gained victory by fighting with just 20 people and a terrible panic struck the huge army and they fled.

Perhaps you might be in a situation where you would have asked for a particular thing to your officer and he would have denied and shouted at you.  But when you pray for the God’s power and go the next day the same officer will speak with you politely and do necessary things for you.  Even more someone might be threatening you without a valid reason.  God will show zealous unto you and make the opponent panic stricken.

Prayer:  Lord, please do a miracle in my life in the area where I am fearful of.  I believe that the battle is not mine but yours.  Thank you.

4.            One handful of flour and little oil – not used up and not go dry.

I Kings 17:12, 13, 16 - “As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied, “I don’t have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die.”

Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid.  Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son.

For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.

This widow gathered sticks to cook, eat, and die.  But the Lord determined to make her live.  Even so God has called you to live and you will not die before His appointed time.  This widow obeyed the Prophet of God and followed his instructions and so prospered.  So also when you obey God and His Minister you will see greater miracles in your life.

God is expecting obedience than sacrifice.  Had we been in the position of that widow, we would have told that prophet that we need to eat.  We would not have given the food to the prophet.  But that widow gave the little of what she had to the Prophet and believed in God’s Power.  When we believe, God is promising to lead us without any lacking.

Kindly do not look at your meager bank balance or your shortcomings.  Just look at the Mighty Power of God with faith.  Then there will not be any lacking in your life.

Prayer:  Lord, please reveal your Power in my life just this time.  I am very much eager to see Your Wonderful Deeds.  Thank you.
