GOD'S COUNSEL 16/10/11

COUNSEL OF GOD

There was an  educational inspector, his duty is to know about the standard of the education of the school. And as he went to a christian school he asked a Bible related question. "Who destroyed the walls of Jericho?"Firstly he asked a student and he cried and said "Sir, I really don't know". Secondly the teacher said, " I was on leave for the last one week I don't know who broke it", Thirdly the principal said "It's alright sir we have some fund in the schoool and we will build it for you, don't worry. The educational inspector was so fed up with their answer. Do you know the answer? God. Yes, many of us read the Bible but do not listen to the words carefully.

In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: Eph1:11.

According to that counsel our life is going on. People Usually would love to give counsel to others but hate to listen the no one likes to receive counsel. But if we listen to he counsel of God and abide in that we will receive lots of blessings.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isa9:6. The God's counsel is unto a resolution which is made in heaven.

1.Protect us from evil:

But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him. Lk7:30,

This says that they rejected the counsel of GOd. Baptism is one of the counsel of the God. Though there is nothing much to do with that,but it shows your obedience. Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
col2:12. Many times we receive the counsel of God but we ignore it literally and evil comes. And if we do according to God's counsel we will be saved from harm.

The head of the family should be the father but in controversy children or wives are the head. Also when some father makes decision he will not discuss with anyone or get advice from anyone, he will just do what he wants to do, this is also wrong. We put this question to a woman, "who is the head of your family?" She said, Definitely the head is my husband but I am the neck. She meant that the head moves as the neck moves. It should not be like that. Together we should be obedient and be a member of the body of Christ. If you do not obey His counsel you have to regret for it in the future.

Prayer:  O Lord keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee. Speak to me everyday and give me your counsel and help me to obey that.

2. Inspire:

 I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.Ps16:7

During the day time we hear lots of noises from everywhere. In the quiet night times when we are ready to hear His counsel He will instruct us. Our spirit and God's spirit is connected. Many times When I woke up in the morning I used to receive some new songs. I used to wonder, "how  come this happens I haven't heard this song before".

When you lie down and think of Him, He will ask you, My son, My daughter, "Do you think what you have done is right?"If you have a true repenting heart you will realize your mistake and feel sorry about it and in turn you will try to put the situation right by saying a "sorry". Some people are left on their own, no one can control them but I am talking to the God fearing people.

How many are living today without peace and with lots of bitterness and hatred? The Bible says,"Before the sun goes down you should leave all the bitterness and make peace with them before you lie down. I am not talking about the people who do so many frauds and sleep well without being concerned about it. No conscience (do not have the sense of discerning right or wrong), no salvation. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. Acts8:22. Everyday when you wake up you should wake up as a renewed person.

Prayer: Lord, help me to be a man with conscience. Give me a repenting heart.

3. Shows the way:

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. Ps32:8

Many times we are left to a choice and are confused which way to choose. When we went to USA, my friend took us for a shopping in his car. After we are done with the shopping we had to return back home. We got into the car and after sometime the GPS was gone (not working) and he used his iphone to know the way. After sometime the charge was completely gone and we are left without choice. We got down in a petrol bunk and asked for the directions but as all the roads look alike we were in a big confusion then atlast with the use of my iphone GPS we came home. Man needs a guide for everything in his life.

Likewise to lead us in the right path God is always there. Young people, Give heed when God speaks to you, never ignore it, cling to the way He shows you and you will find it peaceful. Listen to your parents advice otherwise you have to regret about it.

Prayer: Lord, show me Your way in my studies, work, children and in everything. Help me not to be stubborn in accepting the things which You give me. I know You will be able to lift me up in the place where I am.

4. Make us prosper:

 They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel: But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
 And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. Psa106:13-15.

Some used to say whatever I pray it will be done without fail. God is ready top accept you with all your faults but only thing you need a realizing heart to leave that sin. The souls of those who did not wait for the counsel of God or did not accept the counsel of God are weary, though they may look good outwardly. If you listen to God's word you and your soul will prosper.

Rich people in this world may live prosperously externally but their soul is dead. But we God's people live both internally and externally. Yes, God will prosper those who hear and live according to God's counsel.

Prayer: Lord, Help me to wait for Your counsel and do accordingly and prosper.

5. God's light shines forth:

Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron; Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High: Ps107:11,12

When we read the word it should pierce through thy own soul, that the thoughts of your hearts may be revealed. You should read the Bible as a story book. Those who feel that you are in the darkness and are afraid of their present or future wait in the presence of the Lord today. He will show you the way and all your darkness will flee.

If you are not surrendered to Him yet, now surrender yourself to Him. Believe and surrender to Him, You will definitely see the Lord is changing the darkness by shining forth in your life.

6. God who does everything:

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it. Isa46:10,11

God alone know the plans He has for you and He will definitely do it. Do not doubt or worry about things you have planned for, God is faithful to fulfill it and He alone is able to do everything for us.

Steve Jobbs, Apple man provided us with a glimpse of what the future holds for humankind technologically. His optimistic view of life and his vision of what his company could achieve to make a positive contribution to the world and the lives of others. He did this by bringing out the best in himself and those around him, rather than seeking to impede the progress of others. But the genius was not alive on the day of the launch of his product. His life was not in his hand.

The counsel and things of God's people is tailor-made for them, you will be amazed to see the things God do for you.

Prayer: I believe the counsel of God will do everything for me.

7. Receive us to Glory:

Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Psa73:24

All those who commit themselves to God shall be guided with his counsel, with the counsel both of his word and of his Spirit. If God direct us in the way of our duty, and prevent our turning aside out of it, he will afterwards, when our state of trial and preparation is over, receive us to His kingdom and glory,

Prayer: God, I want to be guided and led by the counsel of You. I believe You will make my glory with You the end I shall for ever be happy in. Amen.
